Chapter 2

New World

With a nudge, Sylva slowly opened his eyes while his head still had an ache from the transfer.

"Sylva, we finally made it I thought we would go blind from that white light I was knocked out like a log. The air here is so clean and invigorating, loving it already." Said Tylo in excitement, this was to be expected it was an entirely new world and not the dark constricted confines of New Moon.

"You see the sky, those trees, that wildlife, it is as I have imagined they completely modelled it like the Earth we see in books, it is honestly mesmerizing." Clamored Sylva with excitement the prospect of living in such an environment proved to be enticing to someone born and brought up in a dim, dingy environment like New Moon.

As they walked along the Spaceport towards the exit Sylva and Tylo's family decided to look around together to witness more in this new strange land keeping to themselves as they were not familiar with the others. The soldiers escorting them prodded everyone along even with all the families in a daze the soldiers kept a stern expression examining them all and confirming their identities before letting them board the transport shuttles to their new homes.

As Sylva and Tylo rushed to get confirmed first they then ran to the transport shuttle to get front seats, eager to have a candid view of the city. After the duo got on the soldiers assigned to their transport shuttle and district soon arrived. It just so happened that Kayli as among them giving them pair a chilling stare before walking away with her peers to the back of the shuttle.

"Why won't she just leave us alone, you saw that stare right it was like the abyss." Whispered Tylo ever so closely to Sylva's ear in a frantic manner.

Sylva replies with a hushed tone, "Best to ignore her either way after this shuttle ride we won't be seeing much of her if at all hopefully." With that Sylva took out a piece of gum and chucked it in his mouth passing one along to Tylo to keep his mind off it all.

The shuttle sped along at high speeds, with no sign of stopping it was quite apparent that it would take a prolonged period before they reach their new home. Just across the horizon, the city named NewEden could be seen with newly developed skyscrapers surrounding a hegemonic tree that touched the sky. It was rooted there, anchored into the ground while the city was built around it. Encompassing it were countless roads strewn across while the leaves gave ample shade from the scorching sun letting small gaps of light escape every now and then with the wind creating an image of majesty and mystery of the whole city.

Along the edges is where most people would live, a suburb for the citizens of the new-found homeland Mars. Sylva and Tylo soon then realized that they were situated right across from the wilderness with a forest at their backs. With such scenery and greenery, the pair were ecstatic to go exploring as soon as they got settled in their homes. After some time, they got directed to their set homes and started to unpack and set up for the day. Both Sylva and Tylo coincidentally became neighbors which surprised and made them ecstatic this situation made them closer as friends.

Soon after arriving, Sylva felt mentally fatigued. The moment the bed was found he quickly fell face first onto the mattress. With the soft landing he felt bliss, the sudden transition from New Moon to Mars was quite a lot. With several questions still lingering in his mind his eyes soon closed.

As the sunshine invaded the dingy room with the birds tweeting and sun protruding from the horizon Sylva rubbed his eyes still not use to the feeling of the bright shining sun.

"Mom, what time is it, why did you wake me up so early?" Said Sylva is a gruntled tone, quite annoyed that his slumber was broken.

"Didn't you know they decided to send all students to the military school nearby, seems like they are transferring the kids there for the time being. You better hurry your uniform is here and there is only an hour to get there." Yelled his mother across the house urging him to hurry up.

Still peeved that he only got the news just now he proceeded to look for the uniform only to find it was strikingly like the outfit worn by the redhead on the shuttle. It took him a minute to realize, only to be frustrated further due to this new revelation.

With a frown on his face, Sylva started mumbling to himself "**** can my day get any worse, I wonder if Tylo is ready he should be feeling crappy about this whole thing too. I wish our phones worked maybe it's time to use those old walkie-talkies."

As he looked for his old pair of walkie-talkies he realized many of their belongings including his collection of antique guns were still missing, he asked his mother about it only to get an answer of frustration too.

"So useless they can't even send our baggage to us on time, I planned to study one of the old antique guns I bought just before we immigrated. Hopefully, they aren’t seized by customs I spent a fortune on it." thought Sylva clearly frustrated that he had barely anything other than a battered walkie-talkie and a few miscellaneous items.

As Sylva walked out his house he noticed Tylo across the street grinning like usual walking towards him as they briskly walked towards the local teleportation station.

"Hey Sylva, I just found out this morning on the whole military school debacle, seems like we will be enlisted into the army and we will likely meet that red hair god of doom, we need to keep a low-profile." Exclaimed Tylo as they walked side by side towards the station.

As they approached the station Sylva took out an ancient looking device, bulky and ugly looking thing with a rod protruding from its top.

"Hey, I got you this I had a pair lying around so I thought I might as well hand you one since the phones don't work here." Explained Sylva

"This, this is old it's quite something these aren't even in production anymore you sure do have some interesting things." Replied Tylo with a small grin eager to try out this old piece of equipment five times his age.

As Sylva exited the teleportation station to the school all he was faced with was utter chaos as thousands of students with little clue slowly approached the school. With uncertainty, all the students decided to go to the school gates unsure as to how they would all be divided and assigned. While there was a lot of whispering and sighs a vague shadow appeared from within the school grounds. Too fast to keep an eye on, it approached the gates at insane speeds as two red streaks could be seen scaring some students nearby.

"Attention you mortals I will be the one guiding you to the hall, just remember you all will be eating, sleeping and learning here so abide by the rules and listen. My name is Kayli and I'm in charge of all of you." Shouted Kayli with a grin which could intimidate even the most vicious of beasts.

"Ah, it's that red death god looks like our year won't go well." Said Tylo with a frown

"Never mind that did you not listen we will be eating, sleeping and learning here what is she on about I don't recall it being a boarding school, "exclaimed Sylva

"Wait what you said is true, isn't this against the law? oh, wait it's the military."

Picking up on the conversation between Tylo and Sylva, "I forgot to mention you will be living here from now on, this has been approved by your guardians however they have been told to keep it quiet. We didn't want any deserters, welcome to the Spiritis Military Academy where the path to the apex is before you." bellowed Kayli in a disdaining tone walking towards the hall while the students following right after.

In the dense forest of the Martian wilderness, a metallic disc could be seen covered by the dirt and foliage almost unnoticeable. The lines that could be seen on the disc started emitting a faint demonic light corroding the foliage around, revealing the entirety of the black disc which gave an eerie feel. As the demonic aura surged a few silhouettes emerged from the black mist facial features blurred and donning a dark robe each, covering their features.

"Sss we have made it to Mars according to the ruins in Egypt there lies a Colossal Demonic heritage of the Ethical faction, which can further our ambitions." Said the decrepit figure with signs of insanity within his eyes.

"My liege the Earthen alliance has consumed a lot of resources to send us over looks like the New Moon coalition has started transferring their civilians over to attempt a cultivating era. This is the perfect chance to bring more Elites over." Replied the hunched follower with a haggard voice.

With a strange glint in the eyes of the leader continued, "These mere mortals will suffice for the blood offerings, with it we can bring over more reinforcements from the Hollow Earth Palace. Let's move out at night and capture the sheep, those New Moon soldiers will catch on soon with that surge of Demon aura, destroy all evidence."

"Yes Lord" With a slight kick on the ground the followers dispersed into the forest destroying what was left of the disc making it seem as if nothing was there, to begin with.
