Looking for horror anime...

Recommend me some good horror genre anime...like, horror movie type scariness.

And no, level 9000 bloody gore fest does not count as good horror. Something more towards psychological maybe?

But I'll accept any suggestions. Thanks.

Uhm... Another and Ghost Hound are pretty decent.

Paranoia Agent & Shin Sekai Yori too. But Shin Sekai Yori isn't really scary, more psychological. =D

Another is probably the reigning champ of the genre, and Higurashi's not too far behind it. Those're the only two I've seen, though.

Well, I'd recommend Mononoke. I think it's a great piece of suspense and psychological devices to create horror. Besides that it has a reinterpretation of the traditional meaning of certain yokais, beautiful animation (quite well done) and unique style! (and ah, the topics it touched...one can dig on them so much!)

Tbh Mononoke is one of my fav animes...but it's not very popular because it is...uh...too japanese. Some ppl don't get it and have eh...wrong ideas about it. Like a certain one person who believes the emphasis of the anime is to present young innocent and selfless good women.. wth? From where anyone would get such idea?

I watched Another and TBH I really didn't like it that much and didn't understand what the hype about it was.

You really should give Higurashi no Naku Koro ni a try. It is my absolute favorite Horror anime!
