Long forgotten plot hole?

While watching some old episodes of Naruto I recall Itachi using Tsukuyomi on Kakashi. I'm sure all of you remember this too. One thing that has confused me is that Itachi used his 3T to put Kakashi in his Tsukuyomi while in Shippuden Itachi ALWAYS had to activate his MS before putting someone in Tsukuyomi. I just don't understand. He also put Sasuke in Tsukuyomi in part one using his base Sharingan which makes no sense.

He put Kakashi in Tsukuyomi using his 3T in episode 82 of Naruto.

Is this a plot hole, has Masashi Kishimoto been inconsistent, or can this be answered with a logical explanation? If you think you have the answer, please let me know.​

I forgot about that, maybe Itachi became more sick over the time-skip and needed to activate MS for it ?

He didn't go that deep into MS at that time, just like how Hashirama's KKG was called Secret Earth Jutsu instead of Wood Style back then, it was changed in Shippuden with the coming of Yamato, I guess this is the same thing.

He didn't go that deep into MS at that time, just like how Hashirama's KKG was called Secret Earth Jutsu instead of Wood Style back then, it was changed in Shippuden with the coming of Yamato, I guess this is the same thing.

Yeah, I think he just decided to change his mind and/or expand on the MS and leave the Sharingan alone back then.

Bad animation , or kishi just changing his mind once again .

Maybe he made Kakashi think he was put in Tsukuyomi with just regular sharingan so that Kakashi wouldn't go snooping around about MS. This could have dug up some info on MS that would have shown its weaknesses/flaws. The way of the ninja is the way of deception.

That or Kishi didn't want to show/hadn't thought up Itachi's MS yet

That's when the MS was first seen in action, he hadn't decided to make Tsukuyomi a MS tech back then but wanted to overpower it so he decided to make it a MS tech. That's what I think anyway, that or he's a lazy prick.

i think its just a plot hole that kishi messed up on kinda like the 3rd coffin that oro pulled up that was supposed to be edo 4th but really it couldent be cuz he was sealed in the death god

I've come to the conclusion that he probably didn't wanna show the MS at the time, and that he wasn't sure about the finalization of the MS itself. Thanks for the good answers guys. ^^

Mangekyo sharingan wasn't introduced until the next arc, so it probably wasn't thought of by kishi until then. plus we never saw Itachi's eyes when he used MS techs in the manga.

I just took that volume from the shelf and looked it up, they didn't show his eyes until after the Tsukuyomi in the manga. I think Kishi did it on purpose to reveal the MS later. So this is a mistake coming from the anime team.
