Well, I'm going to try to do coverage of the Olympics Games 2012. Just like I did for Euro 2012, I'm gonna post my views and post my opinions on the event. Still, the Olympics are a global event and I can't cover all disciplines obviously. So, feel free to add your own views & your own take on the worldwide game phenomenon. You may also add which sport you're gonna watch and which country/athletes you're gonna support. U_U

All spam will be immediately reported. And I want no silly post on the "Simpson'ic" logo. Thanks.

Lucky you. xD I usually love British ceremonies. The royalty culture; mixed with Olympics touch is gonna be great.

Lol xd

Yeah, that was surprising. Didn't watched it but yet, it was surprising to say the least. I don't get why Munian isn't in starting line though.

Anyways, following Brazil's match v/s Egypt right now with my Neymar hype meter. Let's see his results. I guess, Neymar's case will be one of the reason I'll follow bits of Olympics this year.

Didn't watch it myself, but was quite shocked when I found out the score, to say the least :p Don't think I'll be following the Olympic games nearly as much as I did with the Euro, both when it comes to the football and the Olympics in general, but it's always fun to see what teams manages to live up to the hype and not.

From what I've heard, Spain is suppose to be one of the favorites this year in football, alongside Brazil and perhaps Argentina (?).

Speaking of Neymar and Argentina, is Messi playing in the Olympics? Think I read that somewhere, and being that he's 24 and all, which means he goes under the 3 players above 24 line, or?

Nope, no Messi. in fact, no Argentina. :p The 16 teams are:

Great Britain
Senegal
United Arab Emirates
Uruguay
Mexico
South Korea
Gabon
Switzerland
Brazil
Egypt
Belarus
New Zealand
Spain
Japan
Honduras
Morocco

Brazil are clear-cut favorites; followed by Spain and GB team who got home-advantage. Btw, Brazil is currently leading 3-0. One good reason to follow Brazil is that this current team is nearly going to be the same team that's gonna lead Brazil national team in WC 2014. If they perform well, then they are gonna be a force to reckon for as they'll gain even more maturity in 2 years.

Not surprised that Spain lost, they didn't play that well and the red card against them didn't help us either.

Brasil were doing good VS Egypt, but also we need to consider its Ramadan, so that may be a factor to consider for them (Egypt) this Olympics. The plus side for Brasil in the Olympics is that they took two veteran like defenders Silva/Mercelo.

2nd half Brasil weaknesses got exploited in the back and it was the same VS Argentina in the friendly not too long ago, which I'm surprised they didn't try improving. Egypt had many golden chances, but couldn't make them count.

Brasil has always been favs in every tournament in my eyes. Brasil bring plenty of entertainment in their game, but always lack heavily in defence, or at least most times. They play heavily on offence only, its like Argentina did in 2010 WC except Argentina didn't have anything except striker Brasil still has good midfield and decent enough defence compared to Argentina in WC.

Neymar did decent still he goes down to much reminds me of CR7 in his ManU days, if he comes to Barca he'll be the CR7 of Barca in diving that is:rolleyes: except he'll have an advantage as he looks quite weak, so may not get hit that heavily as others.

So, Brazilian Oscar signed with Chelsea.

@Relax - Always wondered why you say "we" when talking about Spain? It says you're in Canada in "your location," does this mean that you're really Spanish and just moved to Canada or something, or does this mean that you're so into Spain that you refer to them as your own country? Been curious about that since the Euro.

Regarding the opening, missed it because of work, but it did look good. Although Iron Maiden should have been there U_U Oh well >_> At least Beckham was, not that it matters :p

Football in Argentina has been sort of messy these months and a lot of well-known football players were hired by other country´s teams. I think Argentina is focusing more in Hockey and Basketball now...:|

Sincerely, this opening was awesome. It flabbergasted me totally. Astonishing!

2008 was really grandiose with its level of extravaganza; especially in pyrotechnics and fireworks. However, London just delivered a masterclass symphony on how to do a ceremony.

Their fireworks weren't as impressive as in Beijing but hell, there were so much depth in its history-telling and culture narration that I just couldn't take my eyes off my screen. With their number of media icons, they could well have turn this into all hype and glitz but they didn't.

Instead, they relied on creativeness and subtlety in each of their acts. Hats off to that. From the small wits of geniuses to epic proportions of story-telling, this ceremony was heart-touching.

They rode on their culture power; just like China rode on its history and Greece did on its mythology. However, London did it with utmost honesty and that's why they topped the previous years' IMO. Beijing and Athens presented their ceremonies amazingly but showing artificial sights. London just brought depth into it. In all honesty, that was daring and the result is a long-lasting spellbinding effect; compared to the eye-pleasing orgasm of 2008.

Showing the Industrial Revolution taking place alongside Sports evolution was fantastic. Yet, it showed how the essence of those culture never changed - just like Olympics whose essence never died out over the years. Perfect opening imo - not only narrating the global British culture but linked so much meanings altogether in its act.

Another full of depth act was the presence of the Inventor of World Wide Web. How this stroke of genius connected the whole world through the Web. So befitting as that was what Olympics meant some time ago - unifying countries. These are meaningful minor touches that left a poignant subtle effect and it was told in so much honesty.

My favorite remain Mr.Bean (Rowan "genius" Atkinson) playing Chariots of Fire was hilarious. The dream sequence was so real; yet visually astonishing. If we were to present the British fair-play in comedic sarcasm, then really can't think of someone better than Mr. Bean. High time that this guy gets knighted IMO.

Oh yeah, presently surprised to see J.K Rowling's narrating a small part during the portion where they gave a tribute to British literary fantasy. Fantasy, that's one effect left during this ceremony indeed. The tribute to Medical systems of Britain leading to this act, was wonderfully choreographed.

I'm surprised they opted for Fantasy instead of a Shakespeare's Midsummer Night Dream but since, it followed an act dedicated to kids, this was so befitting. From Neverland's demons to Dalmantian's Cruella to Lord Voldermort, this was poetically riveting. The Mary Poppins chasing those "evil" forces were very well-thought; although personally, I wouldn't have mind some Quidditch. :p

They tributed British cinematography, TV industry and music fantastically. In fact, that shows the richness in their culture that despite leaving so many legends out, it turned out so great.

Props to the mini-tributes too that appeared briefly in various acts like first Echography of babies, legendary kisses from Titanic to William/Kate, the culture diversity in Eastlands, the metros liveliness, 007 with Queen Elizabeth (lol), Beckham's boat entry ect...

They ended it on an Olympian message also, yet so British at the core - to promote youth and inspire a generation. Sincerely, the creative department is the reason, this ceremony was so awesome. Lighting the torch by "passing the torch to new generations". It's so poetic!

By the time, the last musical pieces came by and remaining trbutes were done, I was in complete awe (and still am!). Culture with Creativity instead of Crassness!

Beijing struck with its visual department. London struck with its creative department. And for people, truly admirers of British culture, one can't deny that this was surely the best Opening Ceremonies.

Couldn't agree more.

This was the worst opening ceremony of modern Olympic games. And i thought that no ceremony could be worse than Atlanta's. I was surprised to read that people liked it. I know no one who did. A disgraceful parody with Mr.Bean flinging his snot rag, a convoluted mess and a complete waste of resources.

So far, I am enjoying watching the swimming. It looks properly organized.
