He was stupid enough and brave enough to take the challenge, but he overrestimated himself and didnt know his own strength and limits, so he lost miserably, he could have taken out 1, but going up against 4 kages, sasuke isnt the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Well done, he derserves some creds, but cmon he didnt stand a chance.

It was inevitable that Sasuke was going to get saved at the last moment. Only a Sasuke FB would think he would be able to just brush aside everyone to get to Danzou. Having said that, Danzou is lucky that Zetsu gave away Sasuke's location because I believe Sasuke would at least have gotten that opportunity before being ultimately defeated.
