How the story is envolving reminds me of the gurren lagann movie ^^ everything gets ... bigger, stronger, bigger.. a loot bigger! Did I meantion bigger?
At some point you do realize that a galaxy throwing "super gurren lagann" of the size of 1000 galaxies was too much, probably.

It is a little overkill for the situation, but I think that it is just a stronger version of the Welcoming Approach: Thousand-Armed Murder seen in the anime. Knowing Hashirama's personality and intent, with the Buddhist traditions that it is based on and the purpose of the jutsu in the anime, I don't think it is a primarily offensive technique. The anime jutsu was used defensively to repel attackers. Granted that it inflicted a lot of damage to Hidan and Kakuzu, but it was only because they attacked first. In Buddhist tradition, the Amitabha welcomes people to the afterlife when they die. And Hashirama has already said that he doesn't want to kill Madara.

yeah I hear you on that, but that look more like the god Shiva than Amitabha. the "god of shinobi" using a god like sage mode. plus one of the many meanings for Shiva is pure and destroyer as well. maybe that's why the 1st said he didn't want to kill Madara, we all know the 1st is pure hearted and Shiva is technically known as the destroyer. But man if in sage mode the 1st can use the naruto universe of Shiva....Damn lol he really would be the god of shinobi lol
