Lol Sasuke was never supposed to be in this manga

I just found out that Sasuke was NEVER supposed to be in this manga. The only reason he is in this manga is because Mashima's daughter drew him first and Mashime later on decided to add him to the manga.

Just found out and thought I'd share to those of you who didn't know about this. If you knew about this then please ignore this thread, theres no need for any negative comments.

I had just heard that Sasuke was created because someone advised Kishimoto to give Naruto a rival.

He was designed to be the opposite of Naruto.

First, Kishimoto editor suggested he invent a rival character for Sasuke. Sasuke has since become Kishimoto's favorite character to draw. there many other changes. the first draft was supposed to urban fantasy.
All of this is irrelevant because authorial intent is irrelevant. It doesn't matter what Kishimoto thought was Sasuke or what he intended for Sasuke. what matters is the reactions of fans. GRRM never intended the Hound to be a popular character but he is.

In the original draft of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Hermione's father found Harry with his dead parents in a rickety shack on a island in a storm. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. In one draft of the Lord of the Rings, Aragorn was a hobbit, not the heir to the throne of Gondor. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing.

Naruto is not the same story it was in the original draft. It has evolved. Even if you hate Sasuke, you have to accept he is the second most important character in the series. He's also the character with the most character development. Sasuke had whole arcs devoted to him. He is not some plot device. That's more than a simple rival would ever get.
