This is just a quick guess of what will happen:
ORRR!!!!
This is my favorite guess
Avatar Korra is on an island as you know. I'm not sure which one but it appears the fire sages are on the island as well. How she got there I don't know. My guess is that she will meet with past avatars and Wan is the main one she will meet if not the only one. Imo, a lot of people were thinking this

The whole legend of Korra is a lie.
A dream, to be exact. A dream within a dream within a dream of Aang's.
Aang is still unconscious after Azula's strike, although he still hears Katara's voice trying to wake him up in the distance.
At this rate, the fire nation has demolished the whole world.
Thus, in Aang's state of unconsciousness, he imagines himself as a new avatar to get in touch with his feminine side.
And the fact that he's always wanted to be a strong, independent black woman.
Korra is symbolic for all that Aang wanted to be, but withdrew from. So he is living rebelliously through this made up persona.
The rest of the A:TLA series was Katara telling the story, but she made it have a happy ending. Yet, she still included the Nightmares and Daydreams aspect to subtlety expose the truth of the ongoing chaos in the world.
Yet, now Aang is realizing that even as Korra, he is still lost and not sure of his identity, even his persona. And feels he can never win, even if poor screenwriting is to blame.
Starting the Legend of Korra all over again, as it prolongues his unconsciousness.
And Sokka's boomerang actually never came back.
It joined the fire nation and is seeking revenge on Sokka for his misuse of weapons.
