I think Naruto's past is 3rd saddest.
2nd goes to Gaara, unlike Naruto he was targeted and grew up similarly.

First goes to Nagato. Parent's killed in front of him. Grew up in a warzone scrapping for food and surviving by all means. Learned ninjutsu from the "enemy" and learned to love Jiraya, only to be abandoned. Yahiko forced Nagato to kill Yahiko to save Konan because of Hanzo with Danzo backing him. Became a cripple for revenge and fell into despair.

Madara went into despair for a lameass reason compared to Nagato. Everybody had it easy compared to him.

Obito's is not even in the top 5. Dude is a crybaby.

agreed, unlike naruto who had at least iruka and visit from the 3rd. gaara didnt find anyone to acknowledge him until he met naruto. nagato now thats just horrible even after everything that he went growing to the get a ultimatum to kill either person you call family just to save the other :NO:
madara was just butthurt and jealous and obito......butthurt crybaby.

lost his whole family including his beloved brother to war, had to leave his friend and fight him due to the war politics, rejoined konoha only to find out that tobirama will be nidaime and not him, his entire clan throws him out when he tries to get them to leave, and finally, he finds out the entire world is under a curse of endless hate and fighting thanks to the sage's mum.

rin was probably the only person who even cared about him. minato was a mentor ordered to look after him.kakashi looked down on him as a failure weakling 99% of the time. we dont know where his parents went. it could have been their deaths that gave him the "trash" philosophy"
