Someone seems upset

Stepping on your country's flag is disrespectful no matter how you look at it and he obviously likes this country enough to stay here, but stepping on the flag gives off the impression that he's ungrateful to all of the good this country provides.

Not saying America is perfect, this government has many flaws, but the good far out ways the bad. Plus the US provides better than the vast majority of other countries.

The government can't help everybody, its relatively impossible. Plus its ignorant to point figures at the government and blame them for everything, when the situation he was in was probably due to his family's poor financial decisions.

The way you are talking, sounds like you expect the government to be able to provide for everyone, which is incredibly naive.
