they would both defeat eachother.. they both would devise a plan to have the other taken down after himself lost.
Plus Yagami can trick the God of Death Leader to make him a Shinigami

WAIT. Batman is a guise of sorts, Light would have to piece the easy puzzle that the super rich man is the only one that is able to fund all Batmans gear... oh no, it might be easier.
