Well Im kind of late. But here are some things that might help.

Anime/Manga Discussion: Didnt this place use to link to the current Naruto chapter and episode? That should be brought back to allow convenient access to it for discussion. I dont really care for boruto, but some do. The dominant discussion of Naruto seems to be in the form of powerscaling and vs debates. If the forum is to become dominant then that is the way forward.

Population: I'd suggest creating groups on other forums. Perhaps maybe a subreddit on Reddit for the Naruto RP that would link to this site as well as the discord. Naruto discussion is high on there and I don't think they have any rules about advertising the forum within the subreddit. As of now much of the discussion is locked away in discord.

RP: I actually thought the RP was moving in a good direction. Training was streamlined. I think the RP can be pretty brutal to newcomers. A lot of official events and tests involve customs which are hard to compete with canons. Especially when said tests are supposed to be testing skill and not necessarily power.

I didnt really have an issue with the last Mods. If they need more help then they should either open that up. They're far more fair than the previous generation of mods.

I would also suggest a public domain trademark, system. Use it or lose it. This would be a particularly big project, but I think older customs, fields, CE, Custom Summons, etc should be made for public use. A lot of those members are never coming back, why should current members be barred from using Lion summons or Diamond Release because somebody submitted it 14 years ago and never posted again? If a member isnt active for a certain about of time, there could be a submission thread to enter their custom into the public domain. That way the public domain doesnt get filled with junk that people dont want and the approval process would allow mods not to allow OP customs into the public domain. Although I would suggest the mods do this independently for things like Custom Clans.

There should be less focus on characters. Their abilities should be made available to to everyone. This was rejected during the last revamp, but I still think a leveling branch system would be best. It works well with mastery, although I think that process takes a bit too long. Abilities in general should be able to be obtained via independent play. Mod's have lives. And shouldn't be expected to create whole missions and arcs for us to gain abilities like Suen. That significaltly halts progress.

There needs to be tutorial or onboarding system in place for new comers and the rules simplified. As of now, the process can be intimidating as they are pretty much left to fend for themselves.

We all know the forum world isn't what it used to be.
Socials are fast, chaotic, and everywhere and yet some of us still come back here.
Why is that?

I'm not here to make big promises or launch a full rebrand today.
But we are here to listen.

So tell us, what keeps you checking in?

• What would make you want to post more?
• What kind of content, features, or vibes would make AB fun again?
• Are there things you miss (like RP, AMVs, SotW, GFX, theory threads)?
• Or the good old Social Groups?

We're also looking at some small structural changes (like reorganizing the forum layout) and want your input on that too.

Even if you're just lurking feel free to drop a comment.
This place was always built by the people who showed up.
Let's see what's still possible, together.

What would keep me coming back to the forums


I have not read the other entries yet. These are the features that keep me returning and a few ideas I would love to see added.

1. Naruto RP
2. Clans
3. Clan wars
4. Guided start with a Sensei or Senpai for site navigation and RP basics
5. Missions that test captivating storytelling and strategic thinking for early rank progress
6. Ranked RP and Casual RP
   Ranked uses tighter jutsu rules and a clear path for advancement.
   Casual allows freer use of custom and high power moves.
   A public leaderboard for ranked would be great.
7. Village assignments
   Players choose a village, each led by a Kage with clear duties and events.
8. Training scrolls
   After initial instruction, mentors can hand out scrolls so trainees can practice a move on their own. I used this for Toad Sage Arts when I served as the Toad Sage Trainer.

EDIT: I did see above someone mentioned simplifying the RP rules. I think that is a good Idea. As it stands right now it is a bit much for someone to come in and learn quickly. There are too many rules and they are pretty scattered. It makes things hard to understand and find.

Hey Versuvio long time no see. Its hard to say what would keep everyone coming back but i wish i had stayed connected with all the friends i made along the way. If alot more of the older gen started coming back and being active that would keep me interested. Back when this was Narutobase this site felt like home for me and many others because of the impact Naruto had on us as kids. The problem now is that its over and this site isn't focused on one Anime/Manga like it use to be. I dont think there is a Manga that can come close to the popularity of the Big 3. Maybe we could get a discord going or a whatsapp to keep connected. I wish you all the best.

I think these talks are better on site as we are able to easily reply and review/reread the threads to catch up on what you kissed vs the potential lengthy conversation in an IM chat + the occasional but inevitable off topic spam in discord servers.

That is fair. I always find the chats easier but this forum is a pretty decent place for it as well if we use it as such.

The advantage of the forum is that it allows users to easily find and access previous chats in the threads and thoughts presented by others during a discussion. Seeing how this was mainly a discussion about reigniting AB, it feels counterproductive to have these talks off base.

We have had RP talks on Discord before, but as you can imagine, the fast-paced nature of Discord doesn't always allow everyone to express their full thoughts, especially when there is a word limit. This can create a jumbled mess for anyone trying to sift through these.

At least that is my opinion on the matter. Both have their merits.

Yes this too, the forum really does have its benefits. Its slower pace allows anyone to join the conversation at any time.

Can 'Forum Topics Today' and 'Latest Posts' be put back on the top of the site like it used to be so the site can look more active? Also include Chatterbox threads and posts in those tabs, the site is too slow for those to be excluded. You guys might think this is trivial but I really do think it contributes to site activity.
