Personally, watching Naruto dubbed on Toonami was my first, more mature, anime watching experience. The Zabuza arc was quite 'adult' compared to anything I had watched before and I thought it was the kind of program that belonged on the late night roster rather than primetime (back when Toonami was primetime). I found the characters very intriguing, the action quite exciting, and the villains downright mysterious. I didn't find the girls all that alluring, with the exception of Kurenei and Tsunade, but that wasn't even needed for me to enjoy the program.

Once I upgraded to subbed and eventually the manga, it was the over complicated mysteries of the Akatsuki and their players that re-excited me and gave me a new reason to watch. The action was still amazing but the mysteries were what drove me to keep watching. This was also the reason why I kept up with it till the end. I was quite satisfied with the ending, but was quite disappointed with the final arcs of the story in general. Either way, I'll always remember how the series made me happy to watch and the enjoyment I got from it.

Please share your reasons for watching/ reading the series and gush about the story in general. Thanks for reading as always!

I also found Kurenai to be alluring. Plus Anko. And Ino

Well, I was 8 and I was already into anime without knowing what "anime was". All I knew is that they added a new show to the Friday Night slot on YTV which I used to always watch. I gave it a try and thought Sasuke, Kakashi, and Kabuto were bad asses and got hooked. I used to always fight with my brother and cousins and pretend we we were the characters. It's what made my childhood so awesome.

It was the show that got me introduced to subbed and I basically grew up with it. I'm now 17 and I still love it.

Narutos pure badassery despite being an orphan and a idiot. Narutos bond with sasuke (I think their first fight made that bond even better to watch).
Meh, Naruto's actual bond with Sasuke wasn't that important to me, just the fact that Naruto tried so hard to beat him. I remember it was the Naruto vs. Gaara fight that convinced me this was a show I'd watch till the end. I mean the size and scale of that fight was immense and honestly was the stepping stone to larger battles in the manga. By that I mean there was no toad bigger than Gamabunta, so that fight between Naruto and Gaara was epic even by Shipuuden standards.

Naruto has been important to me because of the morals, lessons, and different ways of thinking about life it has brought to me. No other anime in my eyes has changed me like Naruto did. Yes, some parts got a little bland when my favorite characters died, but it still found a way to pick me back up and make me keep watching/reading.

I think it's hilarious that someone went out of their way to join a forum specifically for a show and says it's not important to them...
I have a kid, im working full time as a banker, and going to school full time, so I have a life, but I joined this forum because I enjoy the show enough to do so.

Lol, anyways, The fights were great especially at the beginning of the series, and watching the character development all was very interesting. The soundtrack was actually a huge part of why I think I enjoyed the show so much too.

The anime was very important to me around the time of Pain vs. Jiraiya and Itachi vs. Sasuke. Its too bad that the anime lost me around the time of the war.

Well first of all i started watching the anime way back in 2002 or 2003 on a German tv station the only source of Naruto i had back then. Back then i was still watching Pokemon (it was already boring back then), One Piece which was exciting and boring at the same time, my favorite back then was definitivly Digimon the original first 2 parts =D

When Naruto came i was right away hooked, after 2 episodes it became my favorite show and i couldnt wait for a new episode which was comming out every day, they showed it in seasons 50 episodes each, so we had 50 work days episodes after that was spent i had to wait for 8-9 months for new episodes.

Anyway now to the story, i instantly loved the Naruto Universe, Ninjas where cool, ninjutsu was cool, mysteries where cool and Naruto as a character was cool after episodes 3-4.

I remember how little i knew the background back then, it was like the very tip of a iceberg back then who would have known about the deepnes of what we all know today.

Back then i didnt know that it is a Japanese show or anime at all, i didnt know about fillers i though they where actual plot lol i found out 2008 that they where fillers lol

The chunin exams where exciting, and i was afraid aswell cause Naruto and co might have died. The Kyubi was OP back then. The start of the attack on Konoha by Sound village and Sand village was epic. The chase for Sasuke was honestly for me very boring and frustraiting except for the Kiba part that was fun. Naruto vs Sasuke battle was epic i almost died from excitment. I seriously though that Sasuke had no chance and the end result of the battle made no sense to me. Then came the fillers lol i didnt know that, it sucked so bad that my excitment went down and eventually i stoped watching it for few months turned on tv and still fillers until it came to the leaving of Naruto to train with Jiraya.... then my cable tv shut down that german tv station and i stoped watching Anime all together.

Summer 2008, i still didnt have a computer, so i went to a internet caffee and totaly by accident i saw a advertisment for some Naruto stuff so i remembered back and started using my limited computer skills to search for Naruto. Naruto shippuden was comming out all the time and i found out that the show is still running. I didnt know about streaming so couple of weeks later i found by accident again a episode online. So i started watching again from episode 1 of shippuden. I was going there every day for 5 days strait. And watched in awarage 5 episodes per day.
One day that internet caffee told me to **** off, cause back then in my country the term "flat internet" was a unknown term so they had to pay alot hahahaha. So few months passed and didnt watch it again, then i wanted to watch it so badly that i decided i must buy a computer. So i did i bought a old pentium 4, found a internet provided which gave me only 5 GB free per month after that i had to pay a lot of money so i had to save my internet lol. I watched around 10 episodes per month, after a while i got to the end line aka end of finished episodes and watched it as every1 else 1 episode per week :)

Fav arcs are Chunin exams, Naruto vs Sasuke battle, Naruto vs Orochimaru battle, Jiraja vs pain arc, pain arc and Sasuke vs Naruto v2.

Best character for me:

Naruto
Kakashi
Hinata
Konohamaru
Shikamaru
Kiba
Gaara
Raikage
Pain
Jiraya

Worst:

Sasuke part II (no character, cold and evelish and no emotions i could not connect to him, while part I Sasuke was much better developed then part II)
Kabuto, i hated him so much
Zabuza

@narutodrama

Great post, love the story! I was also unaware the Naruto series was Japenese at first nor did I know about some episodes not being cannon. Ignorance truly is bliss. I can't believe you mooched off internet that wasn't even free!! Hell of a gut-buster! I'm also a fan of the original Digimon, actually found it again around 4 months ago but never got around to finishing watching it again.

Your story is similar to mine, nice to see the love for Naruto.
