Let's say Gai and Dai's rolls were switched....

Since we know Dai took out (4/7 I believe) the swordsman of the mist in 8th tier mode; do you guys think that Gai will take out more or the same amount?

Would it affect the Zabuza & Haku V. Team 7 aspect of the manga if Zabuza's predecessor had died and the rest of the swords? Or if they all survived and had something different for the manga with the original sword users running into Naruto and them at the bridge.

What do you think?

Also, how would the lack of Gai affect his team? Who would be there teacher? There would be no Rock Lee so what would replace him? Also, the leaf would have the Mist's swords if he won.

I'm not entirely sure about some of your questions, but as for Gai taking out the swordsmen that Dai fought, I honestly think he'd perform better in 7 gates than Dai did in 8. Dai was a complete chump from what we saw. Gai is an absolute beast. 8 gates would be complete overkill honestly, and I doubt he would be forced to enter 8 gates before they left him alone.

Gai would one shot them, he would be better just going 7th gate and taking out a few and holding them off and they'd probably retreat.

JJ Madara is a million times better than the mist swordsmen.

Gai is far stronger than Dai. Case in point, he's a Jounin, Dai was a Genin. He should be able to take out all 7, possibly without needing to resort to the 8th Gate.

Is this supposed to be some kind of a joke? It's really important to remember that even if Gates opening are the same, different people have different level of strength. 5th Gate Rock Lee is not as powerful as 5th Gate Gai because at the start Gai is much powerful than Rock Lee and his mastery of the Gates enhancement is much better. The same goes for Dai compared to Gai. For example, Rock Lee with Gates had trouble to defeat Gaara's sand; base Gai could casually outspeed it and slap away with just a flick of his wrist. With 8th Gate, Dai, Gai's father, was only able to fend off the Seven Swordsmen, elite jonin level shinobi, killing some of them. Adult Gai in base is already much stronger than Dai was with 8th Gate, dealing with opponents like Obito, hence with 8th Gate he becomes tens and tens of times more powerful than the combined Gokage, able to overwhelm and nearly defeat Juubi jinchuriki Madara.

Gai trashes all the Seven Ninja Swordsmen with 6th Gate. While Dai with 8th Gate would still be stomped away by Juubi Madara, even by Rinnegan SM Madara, by Edo or EMS Madara too.
