Let's Really Take A Look At Itachi - Arguments For Top 5

Top 10, not top 5...
My "own" opinion:
1. Hashirama - Simply the God in Narutoverse
2. Madara - In par with Hashi
3. Minato - Great feats, KCM, Hax Seals, FTG, Rasengan, beat obito and trumps the 2nd in S/T jutsu...one feat is that he was never seen to be hit by any enemy nor the person / even the entire alliance when he tries to protect...only got hit and died when he sacrificed himself...
4. 2nd Hokage / Obito - We know the deal already just a little below minato.
5. Kabuto - Superb feats, merely sliced itachi in half even with sasuke's help, if not for the edo body, itachi dies...
6. Naruto - nothing much to explain here, wiped out edo army with his bunshins, sagemode, kyuubi mode, but falls down a bit before kabuto since kabuto is way smarter than him....
7. Itachi - As you explained
8. Nagato / Bee - Immense chakra reserve, nice techniques but lacks mobility. For Bee, 8tails, powerhouse, samehada, neat techniques, medium speed...
9. Sasuke - still needs more feat to be considered above nagato / itachi / bee
10. Orochimaru - can't die...one can't beat what they can't kill...anything else?

He's not top 5. He's most definitely top 10 though. Anybody in the top 5 have Demi-God powers (EMS, Rinnegan, Kamui, Bijuu etc.) He is like 8 or 9 at my lists.

Itachi chakra feats:
After outlasting Sasuke and defeating Orochimaru, he kept up his biggest version of Susanoo and wasted a lot of time with it:
People often say he can only use his Susanoo for like 5 mins Lol, but even the anime portrayed him to be keeping up his Susanoo for 9+ mins and this is AFTER using genjutsus, Shadow clone, tsukuyomi, katon, and amaterasu.
Itachi can turn susanoo off and on at will and use smaller versions of Susanoo which takes up even less chakra. Rib cage susanoo has good defensive feats:
