As a child, Anko's talent for ninja arts were presumably high, as shown from Orochimaru's initial interest in her, even comparing her abilities to Sasuke. Her training with Orochimaru made her a powerful fighter as she was shown to have very quick reflexes and precise aim. The fact that she was sent to lead the team searching for Kabuto is strongly suggestive of how much Konoha respects her skills. During her brief scuffle with Orochimaru, she was able to outmanoeuvre him several times. She was also able to counter Kabuto Yakushi's ambush, despite losing to him. In the anime, it was also stated that she had also built up an immunity to poisons due to Orochimaru in a similar manner as what he had done with Sasuke.[9]
She has good aim, as she made a perfect Konoha symbol out of dango sticks without looking.[10]

Her abilities were acknowledged by the Sannin Jiraiya, who first went to her to counteract the drug that Tsunade had dosed him with, and later left Kabuto Yakushi up to her.[5] A further testament to her prowess was her being put in charge of the Logistical Support and Medical Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces during the Fourth Shinobi World War.[6]

It was due to her control that she was assigned to lead the sealing of the Three-Tails.
Shizune demonstrated her great medical knowledge when she lead a group of medical ninja in a complicated procedure that took over three hours while the slightest mistake could be fatal.[8]

This was seen when she was put in charge of the autopsy Konoha performed on the first Animal Path that Jiraiya had captured, where she and her team were able to find out the secret behind the chakra receivers embedded in the corpse after just a short amount of time.[13] Likewise, during the Fourth Shinobi World War, she could find out the DNA-similarities between the White Zetsu Army and the first Hokage Hashirama Senju, something that she already presumed before.[14]

Baki, a skilled and experienced shinobi from Sunagakure, commented that the village had many talented ninja after seeing Hayate's skill at such a young age.

The anime notably extended his abilities; he was seen performing the Dance of the Crescent Moon equipped with nothing more than kunai, still resulting in an huge impact.[4] During his fight against Baki, Hayate proved to have possessed keen reflexes as he was able to draw a kunai in time to block an attack despite being inches away from his opponent and, on several occasions, was fast enough to use his sword to deflect kunai thrown at him while he was in mid-air. The anime showed that Hayate was an adept at using the Transparent Escape Technique which gave him personal praise from the Third Hokage, who later assigned him as the only suitable candidate to undertake the dangerous mission of spying on Orochimaru's right-hand man.
In the anime, Hayate also showed proficiency with taijutsu, able to hold his own during his confrontation with Naruto Uzumaki and could kick him away with such force that the wall Naruto smashed against received massive cracks.[4] He could sniff that a war is occurring by the smell of blood of thousands even though he was far away from the battlefields, testimony to a great sense of smell. He showed himself to be very nimble, able to effectively manoeuvre through a barrage of rock projectiles while still moving in for an attack. Hayate also proved to be quick thinking and a cunning strategist as shown in his fight with Baki, where he used Baki's own spit powder as a substitute, confusing Baki, before delivering a kick to the Sunagakure ninja's face. Hayate had a very strong will and mentality; after being reincarnated, he was able to prevent the commands he was given in a few instances, even when his personality was erased, a feat very few that are reincarnated have managed to accomplish.[6][5]

Though by his own admission, not as yet skilled as veterans with its use, Aoba is also able to delve into a person's mind.[5] In the anime, it was revealed that he can read a person's mind even while not physically touching the target, once that thought or feeling is strong enough.[6]

In the anime, during the invasion of Konoha, it is shown that he is also able to use Fire Release using the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique against the invading Oto and Suna shinobi.[7] During that same invasion, he was also one of the Konoha shinobi that were able to dispel the genjutsu that Kabuto Yakushi had cast on the arena. He has also shown the ability to send his chakra through a medium to be used as a paralysing agent on his foe. While fighting Kakuzu, it was shown that he is adept at taijutsu, able to hold his own against the Akatsuki member while his team-mates retreated to safety. Aoba has also shown a high level of intelligence, able to carefully analyse situation even under great pressure.

In the anime, during the invasion of Konoha, it is shown that he is also able to use Fire Release using the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique against the invading Oto and Suna shinobi.[7] During that same invasion, he was also one of the Konoha shinobi that were able to dispel the genjutsu that Kabuto Yakushi had cast on the arena. He has also shown the ability to send his chakra through a medium to be used as a paralysing agent on his foe. While fighting Kakuzu, it was shown that he is adept at taijutsu, able to hold his own against the Akatsuki member while his team-mates retreated to safety. Aoba has also shown a high level of intelligence, able to carefully analyse situation even under great pressure.

He was able to provide assistance to Kakashi Hatake against the Deva Path, as well as put the Asura Path out of commission for most of the battle with a single hit after it was paralysed by Kakashi's Lightning Release Shadow Clone. Like most members of his clan, he also wields a bō in battle that has the ability to lengthen in proportion to him when he grows in size, with great proficiency. In the anime, he could use the bō to create a massive whirlwind that is strong enough to not only send dozens of enemies flying, but also Chōza himself while he uses his Multi-Size Technique.
