I personally would be shocked but also glad that yamato got to take part in the war and it would be interesting if it turns out that yamato was made more powerful and gained some/most of hashiramas abilities and then goes to the main battlefield and helps fight madara and madara will be baffled as to who yamato is and how is it that he has hashiramas woodstyle.

My hunch's 100% on Yamato. He's core member of New Team 7 (the main team on Shippuden) and he was absent the entire war powering up the White Zetsu army. His return is long overdue. It is pretty obvious if you ask me. :|
I'd be stumped if it was someone else, lol.

Still, look at naysayers that told people the mysterious foot near Sasuke wasn't Kabuto but well, it turned out to be Kabuto. :|

I too think it's Yamato, and the last 3 anime episodes confirmed it as far as im concerned... it wouldn't be the first time the anime line up perfectly to show background/fillers for characters who are currently active in the manga.
