See that is the flaw. How can I not take Hiashi seriously when he is one of the relevant Hyuuga members out there. While it is entirely true that Hyuuga hardly showed anything even remotely comparable to formidable advanced sharingan techs, it is noteworthy to take into account that after everything begrudged to the Byakugan in terms of development, Hiashi, as a moment of pride, claims his clan's place. Bad writing did that to the Hyuuga. But I think it is worse to discredit their potential which is clearly in there.

Valid point. It is just one of the few ways his words can be interpreted. What matters is his context, whatever it may be, I guess we'll truly know if we hang around a bit more to see if the BOruto series has anything in store for us to support such claim.
