Versatility is important. The more versatility you have, the less chance you will encounter an opponent that is simply a bad match up for you. If you only have one thing, then if someone comes along who can beat that one thing, then you're screwed!
That for instance, is why Naruto's potential loss of RSM is such a bad thing! With just BSM, all Naruto can do is just nuke stuff with pure energy. He is basically just a watered down Dragon Ball character. Having said that, if Naruto encounters an opponent who also fights like a DB character, but who has even more energy than he does, then Naruto is probably screwed!
Like for instance, if BSM Naruto were to fight even the likes of Krillin or Yamcha in a crossover battle, then Naruto's whole arsenal would be rendered worthless since the DB characters literally swat attacks like bijuudama away like flies! You aren't even on Goku's radar if you can't at least destroy a planet with little effort.
Now with someone more versatile like Sasuke, I'm not saying that it is likely that he'd win, but at least with Sasuke's versatile arsenal he might be able to beat a DB character by paralyzing them or putting them down with genjutsu. Alternatively, he could say, swap with them via amenotejikara just as their ki attack is about to hit him, and basically make the DB character hit themself with their own attack. Sasuke could also absorb their energy via rinnegan and do other stuff.
If Naruto still had/has RSM (9 bijuus, truth seeking balls and everything), then though the chances would still be slim, he could potentially hit a DB character with a truth seeking ball and kill them that way since truth seeking balls destroy what they touch on at least a molecular level. Alternatively, he might be able to seal/bind their movements with a magnet release rasengan and then cut off their head or something.
However, none of these options are available to him without RSM, and he is stuck being weaker and unable to beat the likes of Yamcha!
Do you see what I mean when I say versatility is important? When you have versatility, then you have ways/options to beat a variety of opponents, even if that opponent might be stronger than you.
Now imagine Madara trying to fight a DB character with just susanoo alone. He'd get wrecked! Goku, Krillin or any of those people would just punch that susanoo to smithereens with no difficulty whatsoever and then get back to taking a nap or eating a sandwich!
If we throw in some versatility on Madara's part however, then it might be a different story.
See what I mean? (This is all coming from a Madara fan by the way)
edit: To answer the question, I'd rather have Sasuke's rinnegan, but I still hold that "Nagato's" rinnegan abilities are the common abilities to at least all Hagoromo based rinnegan eyes (by Hagoromo based, I am referring to Hagoromo's, Madara's and Sasuke's, the ones that came from Hagoromo's chakara), if not all rinnegan eyes.
