Naruto The Last and Boruto Movie are perfect examples. I almost went to sleep watching The Last movie, until Sasuke negged the Meteorite. That was the highlight of the entire movie. Then comes the Boruto movie, and Sasuke didn't have not one boring scene.

The best Naruto movies are Bonds and Boruto, and what do they have in common? Lord Sasuke.

It is truly sad that Sasuke carried the entire series.

A single person (unless Main protag in certain circumstances) can't make or break a series. Unless you're saying kishimoto is a shitty writer who shoved his best narrative, archtype, and characterization onto one person.
