I'm sorry to say that I don't know much about Kenjutsu.

Basically, kenjutsu is the art of fighting with swords.

Many shinobi can learn it and although not exclusive to Kiri and Kumo, those two villages place greater emphasis on kenjutsu than do the other villlage. Specifically, Kumo has their own kenjutsu technique and Kiri has the seven ninja swordsmen of the mist.

Aditionally, kenjutsu is the primary fighting style of the samurai descended from the Land of Iron. The samurai are able to channel their chakra into their swords to enhace their power (it was notice that when Sauske channeled his chiodori nagashi into his blade that the technique bared resemblenced to the techniques of the samurai).

Unfortunately, this is the extent of my knowledge.

That's pretty good. It's also a lot more than people usually say o-o

Basically, no matter how you slice it, a simple universal truth remains; Kenjutsu is the art of the Sword. If you do not respect the sword, than you are not fit to wield one.

Now, do you know what the differences are between a One-Handed and a Two-Handed Slash? [Besides the obvious].

Lol I get it - "no matter how you slice it"

I am kinda going out on a limb here and using common sense. Correct me if I am wrong, a One-Handed Slash will have less force than a two-handed slash but the advantage of a one-handed slash is that you are able to use your free hand to hold a sheild, throw a kunai, etc.

Thanks for the compliment, but it's probably because I have more patience than some people when thinking about a question.

Lol

Well, while that's true, it wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for. Indeed you can incorporate Taijutsu with greater ease when you have One free hand, but we'll get to that later.

A One-Handed Slash is not as fast, nor is it as powerful as a Two-Handed Slash - However, it offers you more maneuverability and allows you to easily transition and execute follow up/combination attacks. A Two-Handed slash is more powerful and faster than a One-Handed because of the extra force behind the blade - However, it offers you less maneuverability and isn't as easy to chain attacks after.

Indeed, so now that we've covered that and we've established the difference between a One-Handed and Two-Handed Slash, I'd like for you to perform a One-Handed Horizontal Slash on this training dummy.

*Sets up a training dummy and hands you a Bokuto*

Ok, here goes.

*I accept the Bokuto. Firmly gripping the Bokuto in my right hand, I bend my knees. Then I swing the Bokuto in arc (beginning on my right) aiming to hit the dummy in the stomach. While swinging the sword I attempt to keep the flat of the blade parallel with the ground.*

Yosh, and now, a One-Handed Vertical, please.

Right! I hope I do this next one right.

*I raise the Bokuto so that it is pointing straight into the air and the blade is perpendicular to the ground. I tense my knees, like before, and I begin to swing the blade in a downward arc, aiming to hit the dummy's chest. As I bring down the blade, I attempt to maintain the relative position of the flat of the blade with the ground.*
