Looked around and I didn't find a thread for it so... here it is! (including my review) :D

Okay so I just saw it today. For those who have read the book or are in the process of it, it's pretty damn good. For those who didn't read the book... it's still pretty damn good. I'd say it's pretty phenomenal, but then again, I am completely bias and was excited that this film was even made because I'm a huge fan of the book.

For women, you most likely will cry. I cried maybe 3 times and I am the type of chick who does not cry very easily. For guys, you'll enjoy it. Maybe not to the degree a woman would, but it's enjoyable. You won't get bored.

The music was spectacular. As for someone who thinks I have some sort of valuable opinion because I just played a Les Misérables themed show for marching band, I saw it was great. The singing was awesome.

All in all, I recommend this movie to everyone. It's not your typical musical film, it's something else. 10/10 from me. I'll probably go see it again.

Just a few tips if you're going to go see it:
  1. The more you know, the better. That doesn't mean read the whole book (because it's 829 pages) but if you know a little background about the story and time in history, you'll appreciate it a heck of a lot more.
  2. When you're listening to the actors/actresses sing, don't expect spectacular voices. Pay attention to their emotion. You may not like everyone's singing voice but you can really appreciate and enjoy it all when you pay attention to the emotion. It is one of the best features of the film!
  3. Keep an open mind if you're not used to musicals, even though this isn't your typical musical. There's hardly any actual dialogue. There's only a handful of words that are not sung.
  4. Go to the restroom before or after the movie and limit your liquid intake. The movie is 2.5 hours.
  5. Enjoy it and take it all in :)
So now, for those who saw it: what did you think? Was it completely awesome/amazing? Was it meh? Or was it bad? Leave them comments, yo.

I just watched it today. I liked it. I've seen it on Broadway years back. But I went with the mindset to enjoy it as a movie. And that's why I liked it. On the stage you can feel the power of the performers voice. In the movie, you can feel the emotion behind it. Gavroch and Eponine was awesome and left the biggest impression on me.
