In a way I like his death, it has a poetic ad tragic side in it. When he became old, Obito didn't do any mistakes at all and he was preety much invincible. If it wasn't for Kakashi having his eye's counterpart it would have been the end. But during his last moments he dies because of the character he had as a kid and believing in Madara. Therefore you could say that his characters as a child was his Achilles' heel.
