Sun streamed into a room that was a complete mess. The sunlight woke Adam up from his strange dream of dragons. Adam looked at the clock and quickly realized that if he didn’t leave soon he would be late for school. Adam quickly gets dressed. After eating breakfast Adam walks quickly to the front after he got his bike and helmet.
“Later mom,” Adam said.
“See you when you get home from school and don’t go looking for darkness,” his loving mother replied
“What is the darkness mom keeps referring to?” Adam thought as got on his bike and rode to school. After pedaling as hard as Adam could he notices a soft explosion of blue light in the sky that seemingly appeared out of nowhere in the sky. Adam rubs his eyes and the explosion of light is gone and the gray clouds have returned to their monotonous gray color.
“Weird light always seems to have a source but this one seemed to have virtually no source. I wonder if it has anything to do with the strange dreams that keep reoccurring when I go to sleep at night. It’s starting to bug me.” Adam thought as he finally got to school fifteen minutes after leaving his house. Adam locks his bike to the bike rack and heads to his first period.
“Man oh man, my science teacher is going to kill me and I hope Lillian isn’t late as well. I wonder why that girl likes phoenixes as much as I like dragons.” Adam gets to the door and quietly opens it up to find that his science had everyone get into groups of two and Lillian was the only person left out.
“I am glad you decide to come to class today Adam,” Mr. Siggal says
“Sorry sir, I overslept again. So who is my partner?” Adam asked hoping this was one of those labs Lillian decided to sit out.
“Your partner is Lillian who else. Honestly I think you two make an effort to come late so you get partnered up with each other. You know in recent discovery artifact the phoenix helped the dragon save the world” Mr. Siggal said and for the first time this in weeks managed to confuse both Adam and Lillian as to what he meant.
“Sir why don’t Lillian and myself get started on that lab. This way we won’t fail the lab and we can discuss what you meant,” Adam said rather quizzically. Adam walks over to the lab table Lillian was next to looks at the lab instructions.
“So why it is that Mr. Siggal finds the need to confuse us every time there is a lab in class and we come late?” Lillian asked.
“Simple I think he knows something we might need in the future but neither of us can figure it out. So we will do it the same way we always do it. I cut the animal open and you answer the questions” Adam said putting on his safety equipment.
“True and yes we will do it the same way we always do because your handwriting is atrocious. So I heard you liked video games involving magic?” Lillian said picking up the already prepared piece of paper to document her findings along with her pen.
“Where did you hear that and yes I do. Why are you asking me this? Anyway have you heard about the crazy theories going around about what caused that crater in England?” Adam asked as he made straight cut down the center of the dead bird. For some reason he felt disgusted with the fact that a falcon had been killed for him to dissect.
“I heard it from some girls who like to gossip. I am asking because my dad got me involved in working for a game store that has a new magic game and I was wondering if you could stop by. Well that and the store owner a friend of my dad’s has a crazy theory that your dad was responsible for the crater.” Lillian responded taking notes down.
“Well that would be strange but I thought I saw a blue streak of well in a word unexplained energy” Adam said making another cut to remove the fat from the bird.
“Really huh that would be strange but I have seen stranger things at the store than any customers” Lillian says leaving Adam and herself to think upon many things. Both thought about what the other said and wondered what it could mean for their futures.
A jagged blue crack made of pure energy appears at the end of the school day for the high school. The shard was kept hidden in a secret room inside a rundown shop or at least that’s what its outside appearance gave off. The inside appearance looked rather nice and comfortable.
“I hope Lillian gets here soon times are growing enough without telling her that she doesn’t have the blood of a were-animal but rather that of a great blood. Funny that she could repair the shard that legend said Frieca the grandmaster of the frozen storms helped make to seal away tens of thousands of dark elves that wanted to conquer the world. How she made it with the help of three other people and the legendary Kireck the master of fire forged. Why did the blue shard suddenly sendoff a flash of blue light?” an elderly man using a walking stick thought. He notices a smaller crack appear the gray shard similar to the one in the blue shard. Suddenly a flash of blue and gray light mingle together and explode from the crystals bursting through the room and going right outside. Three elves in black clothing and black armor mysteriously appear outside the shop causing the already dark sky to darken even further. The elderly man frowns at the dark elves and gets into a fighting stance.
Adam and Lillian walk out of the school and unlock their bikes from the bike rack. Adam and Lillian put their bike locks into their bags and ride away from the school. In the distance they saw the blue and gray lights flash briefly into existence before fading away. The environment around them got very ominous as if something dangerous was going down. Suddenly as if by magic a fire appeared spontaneously and set a tree on fire.
“Adam did you see that?” Lillian asked suddenly very nervous and slightly scared
“The fireball that mysteriously appeared setting the tree on fire or the massive amount of energy that suddenly showed up there?” Adam asked hoping it was simply him begin a nervous wreck since he had absolutely no idea on how to talk to any girl.
“Wait you can sense the energy that’s surrounding the location we are heading to?” Lillian asked than thought, “How can someone be so nonchalant about sensing magic? I wonder what kind of animal could describe him the best.”
“Of course I can. My mom always said I could sense just like my dad. Heck sometimes if I focus hard enough I can sense a person’s life force.” Adam said and practically face palmed once he realized what he said. In thought, “Great now she thinks I am a complete and utter weirdo”
“Why do I get the fact that this energy sensing of yours is linked to my weird ability to sense if a person needs medical attention.” Lillian sighed as she mentioned her strange thing.
“Well…” Adam trails off and stops his bike so fast that Lillian went another three feet before skidding to a halt. Adam shakes his head trying in an attempt to make sure that whatever just happened actually happened.
“Why did you stop? We are almost at the store which happens to be where the burning tree is.” Lillian said trying to lighten the mood on Adam which had become dark and battle like.
Shaking his head clear Adam sighs and says, “My mind must be playing tricks on me since I feel like three powerful forces are trying to kill a rather weak one. On the other hand two of them just got serious as one took a mortal wound seems like whatever it was will be dead when we get there.”
“We should hurry up and try to get there to see what’s going on. Besides in three blocks we are there so who knows.” Lillian said.
“No I am sure it will be dead considering how the other two massive energies reacted. They reacted like a comrade fell and are… Never mind they just reacted as if they are trying to avenge one of their comrades.” Adam said
“So it did die. Well hopefully it deserved it.” Lillian said. A rather quiet silence surrounded them as they both suspected that a street fight was going down. After going two more blocks they started to hear the strange sound of swords hitting wood. After turning onto the street that had the fight on it they saw an elderly man getting slammed into his stores door by a cloaked individual. They also saw of the cloaked individuals with what appeared to be a massive gunshot wound through his upper body. At least that’s what it appeared like until it occurred to both of them that bullets are not made that big.
As Lillian rides up to the store she realizes it was her dad’s friend who had taken the beating and gets off bike slams one of the hooded figures to the ground. She turns to see Adam throwing bag in a terrible fashion at the other hooded figure before skidding to a halt and getting off his bike. Suddenly Adam watches as his bike gets engulfed in some dark energy. Unconsciously and unknowingly he taps into a pulse that stirred within in him. At precise moment Lillian helps the elderly man get out of his store. The elderly man gasps at the sheer magnitude of energy that suddenly started coursing through Adam. Suddenly a burst of water with no clear origin got launched at the hooded figure from Adam.
