Very interesting how this book is getting approached.
+ Air Nomads suits - it's not only the look, but also the usage. Imagine if an Airbender drops out of a Flying Bison without his glider. . . you don't have to worry about that with these suits!
+ Mako and Bolin are just being "forcefully manipulated".
- Why was Korra losing so badly in that Earthbending Kick-Boks match. . . it's seemed to me that she was kinda underrated by the writers on purpose.
? What has been going on with the Earth Kingdom? Why after three years there is still no leader on the throne? I know that there was/is a revolution, but still some one has to be in charge. . . and Prince Wu doesn't look like one to do so. . . :erm:
? Is Kuvira against the Earth Kingdom? Is that why she is uniteing/conquering it's territories? hmm
? From the looks of it, has Korra given up on the whole Avatar part. . . ?
Korra isn't going to use here other elements nor the Avatar State in an earthbending match and it also would make it obvious who she is. Korra is a good earthbender, but that doesn't make her the strongest earthbender in the world. Also she seems emotionally not firm.
And the Earth Kingdom is the largest of all the nations. It was already shown in the previous book that under the rulership of the previous Earth Queen there were a lot of issues with bandits and that many people live in poverty, while the Earth Queen only cared about herself. She made her entire kingdom pay heavy taxes while they barely had anything, but she was living in an enormous decadent lifestyle. The rift between the rich and poor seems to be extremely big in the Earth Kingdom, highly likely only a small elite group of people not only had all the wealth, but also all the political power, while the largest part of the population had no power and lived in poverty. Then that small group of elite people finally got overthrown. The entire kingdom was thrown into chaos and no one is left to restore the order.
A situation like this can last for decades, even centuries. So that after three years there is no apparent leader is very normal. At best they could have gained control over Ba Sing Se, but the Earth Kingdom is simply way too big to restore order, even more so considering the previous Earth Queen didn't really care much about what happened outside her walls so long money comes in.
This situation often gives rise to powerful, charismatic individuals or groups that start taking over because there's no central authority. There are countless of historical examples: French Revolution, Russian Revolution, American Revolution...In this case Kveria is taking over.
I love how my thread got casually deleted.
