Legal assisted suicide would be beneficial for society. I will explain why...

Even since I was young, I had this thought...

- interested people will have a painless death, in a hospital

- no need to jump on the subway rail, jump off a building, in front of a car, etc

- organs can be donated to other patients, with the suicidal's approval

The ones who want to die will die, and the ones who want to live will have a chance thanks to them.

If we debate, maybe I can come with more ideas.

I completely agree. I am a very avid believer in voluntary euthanasia. As long as that person is in their right state of mind, they should be free to make that decision. It's their life.

Mentally healthy people don't want to die unless there is an expectation of death or incapacity due to incurable disease.

In those cases, there are strong arguments in support of assisted suicide.

Mentally unhealthy people who want to die need support, counseling, or medication - not assisted suicide.

Assisted suicide isn't suicide technically it's manslaughter. If you assist someone in killing themselves it isn't suicide. Isn't suicide when you kill yourself with no help? Regardless ppl die everyday and if they both wanna die being it selfish or not it's there choice. But Assisted suicide makes no sense

Having an incurable disease can be something about life that you do not like.

Being lonely can also be something that you dislike about life. Also loosing someone important... There can be many examples.

Also, there is enough proof that the incurable diseases are like this only because of the government. Cancer could be cured like 30 years ago, but according to the U.S. law, it is illegal to say you can cure cancer. I do not joke, this is what says in their law. Same thing with Canada, if I recall it correctly.

If people with incurable diseases want to die, why would there be nothing wrong with their mind?

An old person realizes that we will die and wants to die right now. Perfectly acceptable...

An young adult realizes that he will die anyway, that he dislikes living, and wants to die. Unacceptable! But, why...?

That sounds a bit silly. Saving a life is equivalent to postponing death. You're saving a life by postponing death.

OT: Assisted or not, it's just a waste of life. If they're going to die soon (within a few months or the next year or they're on the brink of death), then it's a different case. But if there is nothing wrong and it's just a case of bad mental health, then that's where you need to get them some help, instead of encouraging their actions and thoughts.

In my years of practice I have seen a decent amount of suicides. It is my job to prevent it from happening, but for many it is a clear logical decision that I can understand. There are also people who are in such a dark emotional hole that their thoughts are not logical. Many attempt suicide as a way to ask for help (i.e., suicidal gestures). It is within everyones' right to take their life. I just hope they are coming to that conclusion logically and not out of emotional desperation.

Just FYI there is no guarantee of painless death anywhere .... Even people dosed with fatal drugs in a unconscious state can wake up and feel his/her life being choked out.
