5 gate was the key to beating neji's kaiten with a power + speed combo according to guy . I think lee can maintain the distance at first , activate his gates then proceed to blitz .

Maybe, Gaara had a shield after all to absorb most damage dealt. 50-50, depends how this goes down, both have the same chances of winning this. While Neji is more versatile, Lee is insanely fast at that stage (to the point where even Neji was surprised), all that remains is to know if reverse lotus can end Neji or not.

Is that blackpink on your sig ? I first thought neji would win but now after seeing the scans I think the favor of the match leaned towards neji .

It wasn't until after the preliminary match that Neji trained and mastered the Hyugas defensive capabilities. So if this is CE1 Lee Vs CE2 Neji, obviously Neji would likely win... He had much more time to train.

Lee made it a point so say that he needed the 3rd gate and up to beat Neji so either Lee gets enough time to open the gates and ragdolls Neji or Neji beat Lee like he always did before the gates come out

Lee stomps using 5th gate. Neji was literally shocked to see him. Neji doesn't even have a sand armor. Those punches literally would destroy him. I have my doubts on how Neji would handle primary lotus as well as he could not react to Naruto's punch.

Neji beats lee. A defense in the same league as Gaara's sand should easily block his every assault. Take note that the auto sand would've easily blocked the whole barrage if it could only keep up. Also take note that the much weaker sand armor pretty much tanked it and neji can do something similar with his chakra. Now , considering that the scan above highlights Neji's chakra defense by itself , being stronger than the sand shield , Neji should easily tank every hit from lee then casually finish him at the end.
