People Gossip. I doubt they would try to keep that classified, and even if they did all it takes is 1 person to gossip. Plus i'm sure Naruto would tell them if they ever fought.

Yea he did. In fairness to Kisame Gai is his weakness because he's pure taijutsu. Kisame will absorb Kinjutsu and Gai if he gets a hold of him.
