Madara did NOT tank it like a Boss. If I remember right he got the Rinnegan paths which allow him to absorb chakra.
After getting "hurt" it actually Shows that he failed and took the wrong decision out of this.
A crack in the glas can make it break even faster. So you should always try to not even get one.
