Ok this a trial to see whether I am capable of becoming a Senpai, as my first (hopefully not my last xd) student I will be teaching you my own favorite choice, the Lightning element.
Firstly I would like you to show me your knowledge of lightning & its inner workings & we can take it from there. Include how it is created within the body with the aid of chakra.

Lightning the quickest, seemingly vicious and non-temperamental of all the basic five elements. Now there are two forms of lightning within Narutoverse, lightning formed from chakra and natural lightning. The difference between the two is sheerly because lightning formed from nature is quick seemingly denser and more heated. The process for natural lighting is more concentrated and potent when it comes to how it's formed than the way it is lightning/raiton is formed from the body. Raiton is a sharp, vibrative and piercing element, which also adds energy, speed, oscillation rate and increases an objects "sharpness" in various combination states. This is clearly displayed in sound release as lighting is used to increase the oscillations of the air particles as a medium to amplify and catalyse the sound produced,manipulated and released. Now lightning is a very difficult element to manipulate once released and does not flow and bend its users will like for example the fluid element suiton/water. Now lightning formed through chakra uses the conceptual components of lightning intensity,sharpness,subtle yet furious vibrations and energy. The chakra within ones body when focused uses these components in concentrated manner forming raiton. Lightning isn't a very versatile element and doesn't have multiple release forms but, is more of a counteractive and offensive element than a defensive one.(It attacks even when it defends.
) Now when using lightning one cannot forget regardless of the voltage, touching lighting effects the human body and nervous system from a defending point of view and not a an offensive one. Lightning can be release through many areas from the body and can create full body surges depending on how it's used. Lightning can be concentrated but it is difficult to contain entirely. Lightning is weak against wind as the structural nature of wind and how it fluctuates air molecules acts as a natural insulator neutralising most of lightning structural components and energy flow in a sense. Lightning is strong against earth through and it's piecing nature which creates debris when it connects with earth yet, lightning though also reacts well when connecting with water as water is extremely conductive but elementally neutral. Lightning is a very audible element as it normally creates some sort of a "hissing" sound regardless of its release, so it can generally be heard coming but the speed in which lightning travels is what makes it formidable regardless of the obvious sound it creates. Lighting can be projected, released through the ground and used to make wide spread currents. It is often used to enhance a weapons sharpness while simultaneously adding a "shocking" nature to the weapon, which allows it to lacerate the opponent while stunning them by the electrically charged blade and voltage that will hinder their nervous system depending on the strength of the current and voltage though. Lightning is also a very bright element and can be used in certain instances/releases/techniques if manipulated correctly to blind your opponent or restrict his amount of vision dramatically.

Well put you seem to have a great understanding of the element..
As you noted heat plays a useful factor in lightning release, due to lightning & electricity moving at such speed & creating vibrations within itself, it can leave scorch/burns mark on it's target.
Just as any other element lightnign can be used in various forms, such include..
Melee - when thinking Lightning + Taijutsu, the first things that come to mind are such techniques as Chidori, Lightning Cutter & Lightning Release Armour. These types of jutsu would be described as the most lethal, mainly due to the fact that with the aid of shape manipulation & the rapid compact vibrations & being fully controlled by the user, it has a much deadlier piercing effect rather than ranged jutsu that are released from the user, this is due to the user being unable to control the vibrations of an already released jutsu.
Weapons/Projectiles - When adding lightning chakra to such weapons, it has the ability to increasing the blades cutting ability such as Sasuke's Lightning , this is done by the lightning chakra forming a very thin coat across the weapon & as Lightning chakra continuously lets of vibrations, it allows weapons to slice through objects like butter. It is very similar to Wind release with a couple of differences being, it has a much better chance of slicing or piercing through denser objects but does not increase in speed, as seen when Asuma hurls a wind coated kunai.
Unfocused Currents - Although not as strong as the other methods, unfocused currents such as Nagashi can be used for a more widespread attack, being able to strike down multiple enemies but not with as much great force, it is a ranged attack that can be constantly used as long as the user continues to pour chakra into the technique, this of course comes with the drawback that you are left unable to perform any other jutsu or any that requires the use of chakra due to you having to concentrate on the current your supplying . Such a technique will require a medium to travel across with allows it to move further, but remember it would at most paralyis the opponent for a short term, dependent of their distance from the user.

With each jutsu that I present I would like you follow the template & describe it to the best of your knowledge, even if you have a thought but find it unapproachable, you do not lose out in asking. I will also be adding to the template when we approach higher ranks, as they possess more unnoticed uses & need a more in depth discussion.
Now most people take these sort of jutsu for granted, yes they are D Ranks & yes they do not pack that much of a punch. The best way to think of low ranking Lightning jutsu are that even though there is not as much power behind it, if it shocks the opponent it would get the same initial response from them which is.. shocking them. Even though it does not last as long & may not cause the opponent to react to it as much, it does always leave a small opening for you take advantage of.
(Raiton no Jutsu) - Lightning Release Technique
By manipulating your lightning chakra & focusing it around both hands, you focus on forming a small current around each hand, as you do this you thrust both arms forward releasing small bolts that rush toward your intended target.
This jutsu has no need of a medium, it is mainly considered a blast of lightning & would be able to knock your opponent back while slightly shocking them. Remember just as any jutsu, always look at the range the jutsu can be used at,

Advantage:It can be used to keep the opponent at bay when being rushed, it can stun the opponent creating an opening for you and it can be used as diversion jutsu to distract your opponent buying to time to perform another attack.
Disadvantage:It's a temporary stun and not powerful enough to stop your opponent, it is a very obvious looking jutsu and can also be overpowered easily.
Description: I take my chakra and begin focusing down to the center of my hand, my thoughts are solemnly on making my chakra potent and sharp. As my chakra starts to vibrate at the immense concentration, I begin to intensify it so it begins generating heat. As I feel the warmth begin to happen, I start to hear a light "hissing" sound. I focus my shaping into more of a jagged nature while still increasing my intensity. My chakra begins to glow and flicker brightly as the hissing sound increases with it's heat. "Ha!" It stabilizes and I can feel all the energy in the palm of my hand, like a small ferocious piece of life. I then draw my arm back then rapidly release the seemingly tamed bolt of hissing bright lightning.

Similar to the first, you begin manipulating chakra through both hands, you continue to crouch down & thrust both hands against the ground. The lightning will carry itself across the ground & shock the opponent's feet which should lead them to fall to the ground.
As it is not stated, this jutsu travels in a one directional path, namely toward your intended target & can only travel through the ground. It is not a widespread attack, so can only work on a single target or two if they are huddled together or even hugging....for some weird reason.
(Raiton: Raijingu Sanda) - Lightning Style: Raging Thunder
Building up your lightning chakra you begin to have it spread throughout your whole body, it starts off & covers over your body similar to an aura & grows into a small dome, forming a shield around you. on contact with this, the opponent would receive a shock & should be slightly forced back.
This would be best used in a obvious close combat situation, & could be used if your opponent grabs you while emerging from the ground while trying to grab hold of you, as on conact it would shock them.

Method, I like everything here, though just a preference of mine, I always like to ask the student what the following is:
What is Ninjutsu
what is Chakra
along with what you asked. The Ninjutsu and Chakra is the portion to check if the student fully understands how things work. As elemental training is essentially Ninjutsu and Chakra is involved in ninjutsu. So if the student answers correctly you can move on, if not then you have to explain, or else the training will just be monotone and won't be enjoyable for both of the teacher and student.
Goal here to understand the general principles of the technique and it's useage. However it needs to be somewhat enjoyable for both you and the student. If not enjoyable then atleast intriging. It's hard I know, sometimes I have problems with this portion as well.
However it's just an advice, Ndluvu is my other PS of mine aside from you and he won't be needing to be ask this. Though next time i think it would be a good idea to do so.

Advantage: It can distract your opponent and divert his vision. It has the capabilities to prevent your opponent from charging at you while consuming a small amount of chakra. If it connects it hinders your opponents movements drastically.
Disadvantage: It's unidirectional, breaks the earth as it travels making it very easy to see and hear. It doesn't travel across/through the earth quickly, it is predictable and can be countered easily and only travels a short distance.
Description:"Simple enough" I draw the newly acquired nature chakra manipulation in to the palm of my hand as it seems to condense and collect, I can feel the lighting beginning to form. I then rapidly slam my hand onto the floor ferociously with the thoughts of an electrical fissure. As my palm hits the ground jagged lightning erupts from the floor driving straight forward cracking and sending debris as it moves forwards to only cover a short distance in front of me.

Advantage: It can prevent/protect you from surprise underground attacks, the field on contact disrupts the opponent if he physically touches it and can prevent low ranked earth spikes from impaling you.
Disadvantage: If you use water in the field you would probably get shocked, if your opponent hits you with water you will get shocked. It is highly audible making it easy to react to or notice, if you use any projectile technique it will be weakened if it has to travel through the field.
Description: As I stand with solid posture, I close my eyes then fuel my chakra to my core making it seemingly condense. Focusing on the initial understanding of what it takes to form raiton I then remember the vibrative,heated and static nature of the element. Then in a moment I flush the raiton chakra outwards, with precise understanding of where my chakra is getting released, I then do my best to contain the unstable element. I seem to spread my arms slightly focusing on my extended chakra, with thoughts only on the field and keeping everything together I hear the static energy flowing around me.
Question: How transparent is the electric field? How far can the field be? How long can it stay up for?

Got it
1. Something similar to the 4th Raikage's Lightning Armor, but more of a rounded shape with electrical currents racing around it
2. I would say just enough to cover over yourself, picturing it as a solid dome then you would not have enough room to move properly inside.
3. It should dispel after an opponent's strike or opposing jutsu, otherwise I would say it would last only a short amount of time, not alot of chakra is flowing within the field it being a low rank n all. If it has not been used to defend against an incoming opponent or opposing jutsu then I would safely say you have it active until you perform your next jutsu, as alot of the time we do not leave much of a gap between the two.
Great work, remember if using the second against spikes that emerge from under you, remember to state how you realise the spikes are actually emerging. Most of the time if would be due to things such as sounds of the earth breaking or small vibrations felt underneath you.

The execution to this is the same as Raging Thunder but with a different result, on contact with the field it would push out a great deal of force in the form of electrical currents causing the opponent to be flung back (a distance of 3-4 meters, leaving a gap roughly short range from you)

Not much given in detail but I would likely say the best way to perform this is by first gathering you lightning chakra & manipulating it across the chosen hand. You would motion your arm to the opposite side & continue to swipe across while releasing the wave of bolts, it would be similar to throwing a group of projectiles closely huddled together.
This is a good choice to confront an opponent who is drawing in closer toward you, it would serve as a good distraction as you continue you assault against them. Maybe after executing your swipe, releasing the bolts, you could follow by throwing afew kunai after, maybe even add a explosive tag to it (Becareful with this as the opponent could use a wind jutsu to counter the bolts & kunai, having the kunai hurl back toward you.)

Disadvantage: If countered with a more powerful jutsu you will have no time to counter it depending on it's speed because the field is only short ranged. It's short ranged and can be seen and heard by the opponent when released.

I then throw a seemingly large rock high into the air so it descends onto my field. As the chakra builds I begin to clench my jaw and fists, then rapidly I release the chakra outwards like a controlled flux and stabilize its chakra shape but not it's sustainability allowing it to be so temperamental that it will viciously shock outwards if contact is made with it. As the stone descends on the electric barrier I watch as it makes contact and the electrical current peirces through the ball of earth shattering it and flinging it a few meters in front of me.

Advantage: You can hit multiple targets in one shot, it can easily distract and overwhelm the opponent.
Disadvantage: Though they can overwhelm they lack in strength, it can be countered very easily. It is a very noticeable technique and not very effective.
Description:I start the same process of forming a solid source of raiton in my hand. Now as the mass of heated vibrative chakra forms I begin to focus on partitioning the chakra allowing me to begin rapidly release it curving my arm in a wave like motion outwards across my chest. The piercing projectiles launch with great ease forming an arch of lighting bolts

Description:I start the same process of forming a solid source of raiton in my hand. Now as the mass of heated vibrative chakra forms I begin to focus on partitioning the chakra allowing me to begin rapidly release it curving my arm in a wave like motion outwards across my chest. A note for any type of Lightning jutsu used to cover over your body as a defensive act:
If your opponent is short/close range to you as your Lightning "barrier" is active, they can easily overpower, not just your Lightning jutsu, but yourself too by using various Wind jutsu. Even though this is an obvious point, I note it because while you have your "barrier" surrounding you, you could also be left with little to no time to counter against the wind jutsu at such a short distance (having to dispel the "barrier" & then manipulate your chakra to perform a counter could take more time than you have), remember Wind jutsu move at a great speed while either covering a large area or creating a piercing effect. Some people try & avoid the small time gap but be careful of those kind of distances.
Following that note of being short range from your opponent:
be careful to not get tricked by using such a lightning jutsu to defend against <for example> earth spikes, while the opponent performs wind jutsu, leaving you open once again due to lack of timing. Note:
Handseals are a dead giveaway for your opponent & due to this they can sometimes state that "they are already aware of your attacks" example, Your opponent hurls some Earth projectile toward you, you counter with a Lightning jutsu requiring handseals, you opponent then states "as they see you perform the handseals they assume you are preparing a Lightning jutsu to destroy the Earth projectiles, they then follow up with a Wind jutsu" things like that. Nothing to have you shy away from jutsu requiring handseals but just something to help you think outside the box, when facing such a situation.
You would begin by performing three handseals & follow by slightly extending your arm in front of you, focusing on your hand you begin releasing a "focused" current (I say focused due to it having the ability to maneuver itself around objects, not just bouncing off them). A string of currents then shoot forward toward your target shocking them on contact.
When created picture something similar to a nagashi as the current around your hand stretches out to shock any target(s) close by. Do not mistake it for a condensed stream of lightning when shot forward, it has an erratic pattern & I would compare it to a loose woven stream that travels across.

At best I would describe this by manipulating your chakra throughout both arms, you follow by clapping both hands together releasing a string of currents from around your arms that rush toward your opponent.
As noted it can be used as a small - powerful surge, each dependent on how your describe it, using it as a powerful stream would require more focus & effort on your jutsu & less on your surroundings. As stated it is an ideal choice when using alongside a Water jutsu, choose three Water jutsu of your choice that you think compliment this jutsu the most (in a situation where time & chakra is limited).

Though they move true the lightning bolts themselves are thin and move quite erratically in in the allocated direction.

This is performed by holding out your hand with you palm facing up, you continue to gather chakra around the hand & have it gather to a single point above your palm. a small sphere of electricity then takes shapes while expanding into a ball, very similar size to a rasengan, with an added current flowing around it. You would then aim it toward you target & launch the sphere straight at it.
Now using freeform description, the speed the sphere is thrown could depend solely on how you describe you own motion. if you just swing your arm across then you would only get it around short range but it would be a quicker motion, harder for the opponent to follow. If you pull your arm back & then swing it across you gain a better range but your movements would be easily followed by your opponent.

Similar to the others as mentioned. A stronger version which is a great close combat jutsu if if you time it perfectly, catching your opponent off guard. Remember unless stated these do not increase your movement, striking or reaction speed.

Advantage: It is quite destructive if it colides with someone or something, it is small so it can be used it quick moments or close range to force your opponent backwards, the speed in which you release it and in which it travels is completely up to the user
Disadvantage:It's small, it can be seen formed, it is not large and has no wide range protecting/offensive capabilities. It's speed is limited unlike the core nature of its element.
Description: I look down at the palm of my hand and quietly say to myself. "At least I already know how to form a rasengan." I begin to flush raiton to the palm of my hand and as it gathers there, I begin to make it congest to form a solid ball of lightning. As the heated bolts converge the sound of the bolts converge, I use my chakra to help maintain its shape, I then lean backward allowing my back to arc. I pull my arm backwards then rapidly release the ball from the palm of my hand, I watch as it travels through the air and connects with a nearby tree, completely decimating it sending wood shrapnel everywhere.

As noted it is a very limited jutsu due to the type of area in can be used in, I don't think you would enter many threads that offer such a location or that many Earth jutsu that can create a a mountain of such size that would compliment this jutsu. However things such as terrain can always be discussed & jutsu can always be found to benefit you.
I think personally this is a very helpful jutsu if used in such a situation, it acts as a great distraction. It is noted that you need to be ahead of the opponent to use, I see no reason why it cannot be the opposite way either, having an avalanche come raining down toward the opponent while you (positioned lower) can create another jutsu to strike from the other side, both jutsu covering the front & back of the opponent.

Motion your arm forward having it fully extended(facing your target), gather your lightning chakra having it spread throughout your whole arm causing it to glow a pale yellow. When releasing the horns they are not only release straight forward but also at a angle on both your right & left side. They release at the same time in all forward directions.
Describing that your gather chakra while lifting your arm is a great way to rapidly execute this jutsu as you fully extend your arm, this could be a great way to get out of a situation where your opponent travels toward you from a mid air position. An obvious attack, due to your arm having to glow a pale yellow, allowing the opponent to notice it & act upon that.
