Genjutsu = Gen "Illusion" and Jutsu "Techniques"
As the name implies genjutsu are illusionary techniques. Meaning that effect of genjutsu is not physical unlike Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and Kenjutsu. Genjutsu affects the brain of person and makes him believe a certain sensation like,''Pain, happiness, sorrow etc.'' Genjutsu is similar to Ninjutsu in one aspect that it also requires hand seals and Chakra utilization. Basically Genjutsu disrupts the chakra of opponents brain and causes him to hallucinate. Genjutsu though not often used by Ninja, is still very effective and it has shown that a master of genjutsu can make even a shinobi like Kakashi to collapse. There are different categories of genjutsu.
1. Genjutsu caused by Sharingan. |Itachi Uchiha|
2. Genjutsu caused by hand seals |Kurenai Yuhi|
3. Genjutsu caused by Sound |Tayuya|
I have completely memorized the stuff about genjutsu on Wiki. And I can put all that stuff about cerebral nervous system and whatnot, but that would be just like copy pasting. So, in my own simple words this is the stuff that I know about genjutsu
Genjutsu can be broken by various methods.
1. Through Pain | By inducing pain on ones own body user can break free of a ganjutsu. This pain is physical and severity of pain differs for different genjutsu. For example one can easily break out of a D-Rank genjutsu by just removing a little blood from the body. Such as when a person performs summoning Ninjutsu and bites his finger. Now an S-Rank genjutsu can be broken out of by breaking a bone of finger etc. Shown when Shikamaru broke his finger to get out of Tayuya's genjutsu
2. By disrupting the chakra flow of body a person can break out of genjutsu. This can be done by two methods. First is simply stopping the chakra momentarily and then rasing it to peak. Shown in training of Naruto by Jiraya
Second method is by using a technique which requires user to release a great amount of jutsu at once. This technique has to be one rank stronger than the genjutsu that is to be broken. Example for this is Chidori Nagashi.
3. Foreign Chakra | By introducing a foreign chakra into the body under genjutsu can release a genjutsu. This is because an external chakra can disrupt the flow of the victim and break him out of genjutsu. Shown when Chiyo or Sakura (I don't really remember) released genjutsu on Naruto caused by Itachi.

To clear some things up, in your second example you mention releasing a great amount of "jutsu", I take it you mean chakra ;P For this release method, you did indeed choose a correct jutsu, being Chidori Nagashi however there are some little picky points about using chidori nagashi to break a genjutsu.
So if you want to break a genjutsu using something other than Pain and the Kai release method, you would need to use a jutsu that acts as a full body surge of chakra; such as Chidori Nagashi. For that you need to clearly state you are using the Nagashi as a full body surge, meaning that it will be used in it's short-ranged version ie. you won't be able to direct it to attack someone while also using it to break from a genjutsu.
If you could have a quick read of the

thread and get back to me with any questions about that, or what I just explained, we'll be right to move on.
So basically to release the genjutsu, the first step is to explain how I found out that I was cast into a genjutsu and then use the releasing techniques. And since using taijutsu is most likely going to hurt me the most easy was is to use Kai or using any technique which causes the chakra to be released through all of the chakra points. Right?
That is correct. Each genjutsu has it's own way of being noticed, either by doujutsu or by noticing abnormalities in the terrain etc. We'll cover more as we go on.
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
Alright, so we first saw this jutsu used by the Rain Genin in a filler arc way back when... You release your chakra towards your opponent, tricking the optical centre of the brain into seeing a different terrain to what they are standing on. For example; you could make a rocky terrain look like it is covered in snow or make it look like a thick, dark jungle.
So here is what I want from you; how could you use this jutsu in battle, what would you do to release the genjutsu (assuming you don't have the kai-release as an option), and how would you deduce that this genjutsu is in place?
This technique even though a D-Rank technique is pretty useful and interesting technique. As far as uses go i don't think that I will use this technique to make huge changes in terrain, like making snow or forrest on a rocky terrain. That would make it a weak technique since my opponent can make it a basis to break out of genjutsu like "that since they were fighting in Iwagakure and it doesn't usually snow in Iwa or like there aren't any forests in there so he concluded that he was put into a genjutsu). On the other hand if I make little changes like several rocks appearing in a rocky terrain or trees in a forrest terrain (Which are'nt present in real terrain), That would give me an advantage. Like I can be standing right in front of my opponent but he will be seeing a rock in that place. It also makes it difficult to deduce that you are in a genjutsu if the changes are precise. That way my opponent has to think harder and out of the box to s deduce that he is a genjutsu.
I can break this jutsu easily by bitting my fingers like when a summoning is done or a little cut by kunai can do the trick as well. I could use some huge full body surge jutsu to release the genjutsu, but in my opinion that would be a waste of chakra to release just a D-Rank genjutsu which can easily be released without any chakra consumption or damage with above two mentioned techniques.
As for how I will deduce that I am in genjutsu is like I have stated above.
1. I can use our fighting place as a reference that since we were fighting in this place and this kind of phenomenon doesn't usually happen it the said place, I deduced that I am under a genjutsu.
2. Or I can use the sudden changes in the terrain like rockes appearing out of nowhere etc. as a refrence and deduce that I am in a genjutsu.
also, if you have a doujutsu and for have enough reason (like noticing the terrain being different etc) to check your chakra network, you can look down at yourself in order to see any disruption in your chakra network that would indicate you are in a genjutsu. i.e. your chakra flows in weird patterns instead of its usual smooth form.
( Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou ) - Illusion Technique: Flower Petal Escape
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.
So pretty seal explanatory... the seal are Tiger → Boar → Tiger → Horse → Ox. The aim of this jutsu is to make your body appear like it is dissolving into cherry blossoms petals that then aggressively swarm around your opponent to block there vision. Of course, their vision is only blocked by an illusion that they may spot etc...
How could you use this jutsu effectively in battle?
( Magen: Narakumi ) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.
This jutsu is pretty similar to the one above in that a swarm of leave swarm over and surround your opponent, momentarily blocking their vision. It is activated by performing the Snake → Rat hand seals and was first seen used by Kakashi against Sasuke in which he made her see Sasuke injured/dying or something like that to cause her to be shocked.
The goal of the jutsu is to firstly distract their vision with the leaves, then suddenly shock them into a panic for short moment, that leaves them vulnerable to attack.
So for the jutsu, answer anything I asked you in my explanations then proceed to ask questions, tell me if these are useful (in your opinion) in battle, are they easy to detect and how can you use them to your advantage. I'll pretty much ask you to do this for all jutsu unless I say otherwise so even if I don't tell you to do this, can you please include these in your replies... I may also call this an analysis and ask you to analyse the jutsu, which means to answer these things and anything else you can to comment about. xD
Uses
This is a pretty interesting technique and has several practical uses in a battle. First step is to block the opponents view by using technique. After the opponents eyes are blocked the user can perform various actions like hiding, attacking or even running away. The most important thing is that even for a moment the eyes of the opponent will be blocked. Mostly no one can say that his view wasn't blocked at all. And in battle even a moments view blockage can be fatal.
But performing that many hand seals for just a D-Rank technique is a big disadvantage. Releasing
1. Kai
2. Using full body surge techniques
3. Biting the finger to cause a little pain
Deduction of being in a Genjutsu
Well even though it is a D-Rank genjutsu, deducing that you are in this genjutsu is very tricky, because there is a Ninjutsu and a Fuuton technique which are very similar to this technique and use cherry blossom petals. So it is really hard to deduce that you are in a genjutsu but still it can be done by following ways.
1. Dojutsu users can see their chakra abnormalities.
2. Same goes for Sensors.
3. Only the vision is affected by this genjutsu. So, one can apply his other senses to deduce that he is in a genjutsu. Like no presence of wind but the petals are swarming. No presence of sound produced due to rustling of petals. And even the smell of petals is absent.
4. And I recently learned that Madalores are immune to genjutsu.
Uses
This is an interesting technique as well. This technique also blocks the view of opponent by swarming of leaves. And the user also get traumatized by the image of the thing that he fears the most. And after that he basically drops down after which user can easily finish him off. But there is a basic flaw in this technique. First this technique is weak and stronger opponents won't be affected by the image of their fear. Second fear doesn't necessarily has to weaken the opponent. For some fear can serve as a driving force for my opponent and he may come back stronger than before. Thirdly how, would I know what my opponent fears most. And since I have to state what image I my opponent was shown, this jutsu becomes ineffective in itself.
Releasing
1. Kai
2. Using full body surge techniques
3. Biting the finger to cause a little pain
4. And I recently learned that Madalores are immune to genjutsu.
Deduction of being in a Genjutsu
The swarm of leaves comes out of nowhere which acts as a point of identification, but it is not a strong one. Still the image of what you fear most comes out of nowhere on a battle field also acts as a point of identification.
1. Dojutsu users can see their chakra abnormalities.
2. Same goes for Sensors.
3. And I recently learned that Madalores are immune to genjutsu.
I don't really have any questions. But I would really like to know the practical way to use that second jutsu if there is any. Like how would I know what my opponent fears most.
For the second jutsu, it's up to your opponent to fill in the part about what they fear, after you cast the jutsu in their next turn they'll have to write up the scenario they see. Else if they can't be bothered to RP, they might just say they see something scary and then blah blah.
Tell me what you know about the Kai release method?
Kai release method is a method used to release a genjutsu. It is basically depends upon the disturbance caused by user in the chakra flow of himself or if he is releasing someone else from the genjutsu. First of all user starts by performing a single hand seal and starts focusing his chakra. He momentarily stops his chakra flow and then spikes it back up more than normal this time. This causes the normal balance between the physical and spiritual energy of a ninja to break and spiritual energy rises for a short moment of time, breaking any genjutsu user is under. This is technique is though not effective against genjutsu caused by Mangekyo Sharingan.
This method also depends upon the skill of the user. As a Jounin ranked Ninja can break upto C-Rank genjutsu. S-Class ninja can break upto B-Rank genjutsu, Sannin ranked ninja can break upto A-Rank genjutsu and Sage ranked ninja can break upto S-Rank genjutsu. Though user still has to follow the basic rule of stating that how he deduced that he was under a genjutsu.
If a genjutsu layering is done then the one under genjutsu needs only to break the highest ranked genjutsu and all the other genjutsu get dispelled along with it.
Well then... I don't need to tell you any more about Kai release O__O'
( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.
( Kori Shinchū no Jutsu ) - Sly Mind Affect Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.
A tricky jutsu that if used correctly, can take the unweary opponent by surprise. The goal of this jutsu is to effect what the opponent sees, altering there perception (and indirectly there balance and sense of direction) so that it appears to them that they are travelling on the original straight path they started on. Can't stress that it will only work if they are going in a straight line, complicated zig-zags won't allow this jutsu to work... In reality they are actually travelling in circles an open for attack.
( Genjutsu: Jinmon ) - Illusion Technique: Interrogation
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.
Pretty straight forward and really only useful in the NW O__O' You'd have to make sure the opponent is immobile so they don't... you know? Kill you as you attempt this? Also, you need direct physical contact for this to work.
Reply as you have been for previous jutsu, just don't include release methods as they would be the same for basically every jutsu... give or take. Also, for the last jutsu, don't worry about how you would work out you're in a genjutsu as it is not meant to be a sneaky jutsu used to take your opponent off guard. Basically only response to the first jutsu and include any comments you'd like to give about the latter jutsu.
Uses |
1. Well this jutsu, I don't know much about it. I mean it would be very obvious if a person is caught in this jutsu and he keeps traveling for like even 2-3 minutes. He would easily deduce that since he was in midst of a fight and now he has started moving in a straight line without any particular reason.
2. But my guess it can be used on a person who started running towards, basically an opponent who is charging at me can be put under this genjutsu, where he will just keep on moving in circles but h thinks that he is moving towards me. Now I don't know if this jutsu also effects the depth perception of opponent. If it does then it will be useful, but otherwise it will still be deducted that since he was moving towards the opponent for quite sometime, but was not reaching him which made him deduce that he was in a genjutsu.
3. I am sorry but I cannot see much usefulness of this jutsu. Deduction |
1. It will be very easy to deduce. Since no one enters a fight just to want to move in a straight line. After a little time of moving the opponent will deduce that since he is going in a straight line without any reason or purpose and no one is attacking him, he is under a genjutsu. Question |
1. Does this justu effects the Depth perception, like how far I seem to my opponent?
2. If an opponent is put under this genjutsu, he will move in a straight line (If he is not sensory or dojutsu type.) This little time should give me enough time to strike using my specialty. Right?
This is a pretty useless jutsu in Naruto Base Role Play. It has a lot of risks to use this. If the opponent is not immobile but, plays to be so and you get near him, then he can simply cut your head off. But I think there must be a rule stating that if an opponent is caught in an official battle by this jutsu, then he should honestly answer whatever question I ask him. You know so, that I could steal information from him about his village. I can make an opponent immobile using my shadows.....
Question |
1. Does this justu effects the Depth perception, like how far I seem to my opponent?
2. If an opponent is put under this genjutsu, he will move in a straight line (If he is not sensory or dojutsu type.) This little time should give me enough time to strike using my specialty. Right?
1. In a way it does, as to them you'll seem to always be at the same distance away from them. If you're ten meters away, then you'll appear ten meters to them for the length of this jutsu as in reality, they are running in circles.
2. Well they are moving in circles for starters which would in effect leave them open for you to attack. However the basic timeframe still takes place in that:
they fall for the jutsu -> They react (either deduce it or not) -> Then you can attack -> They react to that (if they are still in the genjutsu then they would be hit by your follow-up).
( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.
Straight forward, you cast an illusion that causes your target to see a huge ball of fire, (as well as feel the heat of the fireball) descend from the sky that aims to destroy them.

( Genjutsu: Kasumi no Jutsu ) - Illusion Technique: Mist Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.
So this builds on the D-rank Mist servant jutsu you have previously learned; This time you'll create the same illusionary clone and have it charge towards your target before it leaps into the air above them, then exploding into a cloud of [illusionary] cherry blossoms. This leaves your target's vision obscured and... well you should know what to do with an opening like that xD
So don't worry about preforming these, just give me uses, combo's, counters etc. for both of these jutsu.
Uses + Combos|
1. I can use this jutsu and follow it up with a Water style jutsu since my opponent will most likely use a water type jutsu to combat fire.
Even if he doesn't use water style jutsu and applies some method to release the genjutsu after determining that he is in one, it will give me plenty of time to use some other technique while he is busy.
Counter|
1. Kai
2. Using full body surge techniques
3. Biting the finger to cause a little pain
4. And I recently learned that Madalores are immune to genjutsu.
Uses + Combo|
Even though this jutsu can be detected pretty easy since petal comes out of nowhere from a clone, still it does obscure the vision of the opponent. That gives me a lot of time to uses many techniques and various different plans. It is also useful if the user is trying to get out of sight of his opponent.
Counter|
1. Kai
2. Using full body surge techniques
3. Biting the finger to cause a little pain
4. And I recently learned that Madalores are immune to genjutsu.
No Questions really. Though I want to ask since I have forgotten. If the opponent just bites his finger or uses kunai to release the genjutsu, Does that count as a move in a turn?
Yes and no... so it won't count as one of the three jutsu you can use per turn but an action such as that will count towards the Time Frame of the move.
So I put you in a genjutsu and then follow up by dropping leg weights, then running at you.
I can't perform two jutsu or actions before you can perform one meaning the move breaks down as follows:
My Genjutsu ~> Option for you to counter ~> My Leg Weights Drop ~> Option for you to do something ~> I run at you ~> Option for you to do something.
Taking the above situation, if you stab yourself to break the genjutsu, the time frame will be as follow:
My Genjutsu ~> You stab to break the gen ~> I Drop my leg weights ~> Etc
There are more subtle and not so subtle nuances that comes with Time Frame but that's the dry-bone basic way to look at things. You'll need a more specific situation for me to break down the Time Frame better for said situation. For your best bet, just look to see how others counter genjutsu in battle tests. In the Arena and NW, people use customs so they negate the genjutsu and manage to pull off an attack/counter... and tests generally use cannon abilities so will give you better options learn ways people use cannon genjutsu breaks such as Kai or self harm.
