Hey. ^_^ So let's get right to it. What is genjutsu? How does it work? In what situations is it useful?
More importantly, how can it be countered?
What is genjutsu? Genjutsu are illusionary techniques that are used like ninjutsu, (requiring chakra and hand seals.) The main difference between the two are that the effects of genjutsu are illusory and the effects of ninjutsu are not. When using genjutsu the user does not attack the opponents body, like when using taijutsu or ninjutsu. Genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the opponets brain.
How does it work? Genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the opponents brain, causing them to see illusion's.
situations it's useful in? Genjutsu is useful when you cannot overpower your power opponent
how can genjutsu be countered? Genjutsu can be countered by Having your partner add chakra into your charka network disrupting your chakra cancelling the genjutsu, Or if your by your self you can inflict pain on your self freeing you from the genjutsu.
situations it's useful in? Genjutsu is useful in situations when you want to cover up your real attack from your opponents, By hiding it with in a genjustu. It's also when you want to confuse your opponent and capture him alive.
That's all i know about it. Did i miss anything ?
Yes, I now understand complete Riku.. sensei.Better. Mainly just remember that in addition to what you said, it's also good for simply confusing your opponent. I mean that is the entire purpose. It's meant to make your opponent see things that aren't actually there, or feel as though they're being put in situations that aren't actually happening, without allowing the opponent to realize that it is an illusion. The last part is the tricky thing. For example, when Itachi used the Tsukuyomi on Kakashi in Part 1 of the series, it was obvious that the technique was a genjutsu simply because of its effects. Had this been anything but the Tsyukuyomi, the fact that it was obviously a genjutsu would have made the technique far less effective. The point of the illusion is to give the opponent realistic sensations that not only appeal to their five senses but also make enough logical sensei that the opponent does not realize that they are under the effect of a simple and possibly harmless illusion. Understood?
Yes, I now understand complete Riku.. sensei.
Alright, normally I would make you do a few exercises, but there's really not much that you can do to prepare for genjutsu techniques, being that most of the basic genjutsu techniques are somewhat like warm-ups of their own, so we'll get right into it.
( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) - Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
This is really genjutsu in its most basic form. You're focusing on only my sense of sight in this technique; changing the way that I view my surroundings and what I manage to see. For all of these techniques, you'll be testing them on me so that I can determine how well done the genjutsu is. Focus your chakra in order to disrupt my own chakra flow, and essentially instill in me whatever image you want me to see. In this case since you're just starting, make me imagine a giant tree right in the middle of the area that we are in.
*I gather a decent amount of chakra and channel it into your brain, utilizing the chakra to take over your senses, more specifically your sight. I use my creative imagination and chakra manipulation to make it that you see a small tree, The trees size starts to expand and it becomes a huge tree , The terrain around it begins to turn dark, Because of the huge shadow the tree is producing. I cause the tree to become big enough so that it causes the sunlight to become blocked out, Which causes a huge dark shadow that takes your sight in side the genjutsu*
*I begin seeing the tree that you instill in my vision, but suddenly it vanishes and the illusion breaks.*
Far too little chakra disruption. Remember that the disruption of my chakra needs to be constant. You have to keep doing it to make the genjutsu work. You back off with your chakra and you give me a chance to see through the technique. Don't focus so much on the image that you're trying to create that you forget to disrupt your chakra flow. Try again.
*I gather a decent amount of chakra and channel it into your brain, utilizing the chakra to take over your senses, more specifically your sight. I constantly add my chakra into your brain as i use my creative imagination and chakra manipulation to make it that you see a huge tree come from the ground.*
Better? sorry, i suck at genjutsu
*You successfully create the image of a tree in front of me.*
Good.
Next up is...
( Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou ) - Illusion Technique: Flower Petal Escape
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.
This one should be a bit easier after what you just did, because the principles of the two techniques are exactly the same. Once again you're affecting my sight, but making me specifically see a flurry of petals all around me. Focus only on the visual aspect of the genjutsu, because this honestly doesn't affect anything else.
*I gather a good amount of my chakra and channel it into your brain, utilizing the chakra to take over your sense of sight, causing you to see a flurry of petals all around you, I do this while I constantly add my chakra into your brain.*
Nicely done. This technique is simply good for obscuring your opponents vision, or at least changing the way that they're brain deciphers what they're eyes see to be more precise, while you do... other stuff. o.o In the not creepiest way possible.
Next up...
( Genjutsu: Kasumi ) - Illusion Technique: Servant
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes
Now, this is a bit more difficult because it requires you to mix physical movements with your genjutsu. The goal here is to, once again, change the way my brain deciphers what I see, but it's a bit different this time. For one, as you focus the chakra, you also have to throw a kunai with a paper bomb (I mean you could throw a paper bomb but it would end up fluttering for about a foot or two and then landing next to you and blowing you up so... yeah) and as it goes toward your opponent you STILL have to focus chakra into their brain to disrupt their sight to make them see a clone of yourself instead of the actual paper bomb.
* I make one hand seal and i constantly channel chakra into your brain as this is happening, I throw a kunai with a paper bomb towards you. using my chakra that i'm constantly channeling into your brain, you become trapped in a genjuts and you will see a clone of me advancing upon you but it's really the paper bomb. As my clone reaches you, it explodes.
Well done. Now briefly explain to me this technique's usefulness.
