Re: Learning Genjutsu with Reborn

( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.

Probably the most basic xD. Opponent sees a fireball attempt to crush them from above and engulf them. Very simple. How would you counter, and how might you use this in combination?

( Genjutsu: Kasumi no Jutsu ) - Illusion Technique: Mist Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.

Make a clone which jumps and explodes close to the opponent into blossoms. The blossoms will confuse and harm their vision for a nano second for you to attack right after. Performance is easy, I want you to give me counters, and I think we already spoke about being able to counter intangible clones? Just to be safe give me a run down on how to counter this. Also, the quicker the counter the better, so focus on the clone to deduce the genjutsu before it even has a chance to explode.

Re: Learning Genjutsu with Reborn

It doesn't say the fire ball gives off heat, so that's ab obvious indicator that it's a Genjutsu. Also, with the Sharingan, I can tell it's not a Ninjutsu technique since no chakra is present within the fire. As for combinations, I think I would follow up with an actual fire ball, idk lol Or when their distracted, follow up with a quick attack that strikes from their blind spot.
--------------
As with other clone genjutsu, the clone wouldn't interact with the terrain properly (i.e. no shadows; doesn't alter the grass, sand, etc.). That would be a dead giveaway.

Re: Learning Genjutsu with Reborn

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

Time for Kai. Take a hold of your chakra and stop the flow. In a short time window, quickly spike it back into its original flow. This helps to break genjutsu. Try it out.

*places you in a gen where you see a fireball coming at you*

Deduce and break using Kai.

Re: Learning Genjutsu with Reborn

Sasuke, minding his own business, looks up and notices a rather large fireball descend from the sky. This fireball seemed irregular, however. As big as it was, Sasuke could not feel any heat from it. This puzzled him and started to suspect that there wasn't any fire at all. Weaving the ram hand seal, he quickly stops his chakra flow and spikes it immediately after; breaking himself from the illusion.

Re: Learning Genjutsu with Reborn

( Konoha-Ryū: Yanagi ) - Leaf Ninja Art: Willow
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 35
Description: The user waves their sword back and forth, which when seen by the target locks them in a genjutsu which causes them to hallucinate multiple waving arms. The movement resembles that of a willow tree blowing in the wind. With the enemy off guard, the user is free to cut them down.

Now we on to those B-Ranks first of all, I want you to find a way to counter this. I think it is obvious combinations are easy but a lot of people screw up the counter measurements.

Also fun fact I'm making a CFS that revolves around this concept, a lot of nice ideas for genjutsu cjs.

The genjutsu used here. Leaves a lot of clues open to counter.

( Genjutsu: Hanaoka ) - Illusion Technique: Flower Hill
Rank: B
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user summons up illusionary purple flowers from the ground in front of them, damaging enemies with a chance to paralyze them.
Note: Paralysis lasts one turn.

Summoning a purple flower in front of the user, it will damage them by hitting them and if contact is made extensively paralyze the opponent. Once again performance is easy, and how you might logically use it after paralyzing is also simple.

Tell me how you would counter or deduce this flower being a genjutsu. And how would you aid in a good combination?

Re: Learning Genjutsu with Reborn

Sensei I have a question, if the Hell Fire Technique touches you does it give you the physical sensation of being burned alive?

Saw the title and I thought I had missed somebody...

By the looks of it, the arms appear a couple feet from the user and don't even attack/converge towards me, so I wouldn't even need to focus on them at all. And with that, I think I could counter as I see fit.
----------
It would be suspicious that a large object would be created without the user weaving any hand seals. And it's odd that it would seemingly phase through the ground, instead of breaking through it. This would be good to use right before an earth jutsu. They'd be inclined to think that the trembling was from the flower, but in reality, it's a surprise earth spike or something.

I mean all because something isn't converging or attacking you doesn't mean it isn't a genjutsu or not o_O, if I make a stone golem that doesn't move would you assume it is a gen? Of course not, at least I hope not. Also the lack of description and effort isn't appreciated at all. Do you need some help with the deduction part? If not you can try again.

You are hopeless :|

( Konoha-Ryū: Yanagi ) - Leaf Ninja Art: Willow
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 35

First of all, it is completely illogical to have countless amounts of detached hands waving fluidly, basic anatomy and bodily function looks at that as being next to impossible. So that is the first hint. Lets diagnose the senses. Hearing, when a sword is waved across the air you can hear the wind/air run along the blade, now you would have to be rather close, but if there is so many weapons, wouldn't that sound become more noticeable? Could you not hear more wind currents blowing/waving across? I tend to say most likely. Visually, can you see shadows on the ground from the swords? How are they aligned, are they scattered randomly, pattern, or linearly to produce such shadows? Can it be rather weird how they might be pattern in contrast to the persons body position? Can you not see the flesh/blade itself? Are the clothes of the persons arm wielding the blade, is that waving along with the blades? You see where I am getting at though, aren't you? You can pick and choose anything depending on the jutsu itself and your own opponents description.

Let's make this as straightforward as possible!

I'm sure you're already familiar with the appropriate level of pain to break an illusion. These next two are related such that they involve vines/flower buds.

What senses or reasoning could you use to break out of each respective genjutsu?

( Genjutsu: Ingemame Ketsugō Sakkaku ) - Illusion Technique String Bean Binding Illusion
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: Similar to Illusion Technique: Tree Binding Death, the user will do the Dog → Hare → Snake → Ram hand seals and trigger an illusion where the user first disappears, while the target sees several bean vines growing from the ground around and beneath him. These vines bind the target body, lifting them into the air. Then a bean pod rises from the ground to reveal the user, ready to strike. In reality, the opponent is immobilized by the illusion, allowing the user to strike.
( Magen: Hanarasui ) - Demonic Illusion: Flower Head Death
Rank: B
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Range: Short- Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40 due to stress on the mind
Description: The user will trap the target within an illusion where the opponent appears to be trapped in a large flower bud which then explodes. The opponent is made to believe that an explosion actually occurred and collapses, believing himself to be injured. The resulting stress on his mind causes damage.

#1: Well for starters, realizing that the opponent is disappearing isn't enough to deduce that one is in a genjutsu since there's a canon ninjutsu technique that allows the same type of thing. However, the next part is a good indicator since the bean stalks do not break through the ground when they surface but phases through it instead. Along with that, the bean stalk wouldn't cast any shadows since it is not real.

#2: Since the illusion is described as a flower magically appearing out of nowhere–not emerging from the ground, no underground rumbling, nor seeing the user not weaving any hand seals– I would deduce that the flower is not what it seems and is in fact an illusion.

Fantastic. It's also been argued that these plants have no distinct smell. Both sides are equally plausible (having smell and not), so be sure to note that. It's all about wording it to your advantage!

Now, here are the last three B-ranks I can teach you. I want you to now think of possible techniques and combinations to use before/after each of these illusions in order to force your target to metagame or be unable to stop the illusion from happening.

Come up with two (2) for each illusion for a total of six (6), if you please. They don't have to be long winded paragraphs, just short and sweet statements or jutsus c/p'ed. And of course, if you have questions, please feel free to let me know.

( Magen: Jubaku Satsu ) - Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, and appears to dissolve into a mist. Once they stealthily approach the target and get within short-range, the opponent feels completely immobilized, and believes they have been bound by a fast-growing tree and are unable to move. The user then appears as if they emerge from the tree to attack the target. In reality, the target is immobilized, allowing the user to strike or interrogate them.
( Genjutsu: Oshitsubusu Hebi Kubire ) - Illusion Technique: Crushing Snake Constriction
Rank: B
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user puts the opponent into a genjutsu which has snakes appear beneath the opponent to constrict them and with the users command, they crush the opponent. In reality, the opponent is immobilized and takes damage due to the stress on his mind.

Sasuke begins by creating a thick mist that covers the whole area. While this happens, he weaves some hand seals and please the target under a genjutsu. First, Sasuke would "dissolve" into mist–making him further undetectable–and swiftly repositions himself in his opponent's blind spot. Within short range, he "creates" a fast growing tree behind the target, which binds Sasuke's opponent. Though they probably can't see, a fake Sasuke emerges from the tree. With the target immobilized, Sasuke sends several wind bullets into the back of his opponent's neck. (Hidden Mist, Tree Binding, Vacuum Sphere)

Sasuke weaves five hand seals and places his target under a genjutsu. Before dissolving into mist, he throws down a flash bomb. Stealthily repositioning behind his opponent, his close proximity would cause the blind target to be binded by a fast growing tree and immobilized. Ready to strike, Sasuke equips a kunai and stabs them in the neck. (Tree Binding, Silent Homicide)
---------------------------------------
Weaving a string of fake hand seals, Sasuke slams his left hand onto the ground and places his opponent under a sly illusion. Almost simultaneously, he gathers earth chakra and creates two earth spikes that appear right next to the target; where he wants the snakes to appear. While they won't impale him, the target would see the snakes emerge from the ground instead but seem real from the spikes' tremors and whatnot. When the snakes constrict their target, Sasuke uses this time to release a blast of wind towards his opponent; just in case they try to use some lightning currents or some ish. (Snake Constriction, Earth Spikes, Wind Gale)

Weaving some hand seals, Sasuke creates a large earth swamp underneath his opponent. Before they try to escape, Sasuke weaves some fake hand seals, before slamming his hand on the ground. When the snakes emerge from the mud, Sasuke makes it look like they have some mud residue to make them more realistic. When the snakes constrict them, the target is left to sink and suffocate. (SotU, Snake Constriction)
----------------------------------
Sasuke begins by weaving some fake seals, before gathering earth chakra. As he makes the ground shake, he places his opponent under a genjutsu. Immediately afterwards, he makes his opponent see multiple flowers pop from the ground; and the purpose of the shaking was to make the first part of the illusion more realistic. Soon, the flowers would paralyze the target, leaving them open for attack. Sasuke finishes by hurling several tagged kunai. (Earth Shaking, Flower Hill)

Weaving some fake hand seals, Sasuke places his opponent under a illusion. As the flowers appear, they'd block the opponent's vision of Sasuke. Using this opportunity, he quickly stomps the ground, creates a hole, and sends a flame inside it. As the flame heads towards the target, the flowers paralyze Sasuke's opponent. Left immobilized, they are left defenseless against the erupting fire geyser. (Flower Hill, Flame Crater)

Nice! Now, same drill with the last three A-ranks, and the final techniques I can teach you.

( Magen: Chō Shinka ) - Demonic Illusion: Butterfly Evolution
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user makes one handseal, placing the opponent in a genjutsu. The user then tosses a large number of explosive tags at the opponent. To the opponent, it looks as if they are countless butterflies. The opponent then believes they are sinking into the ground, in reality making them immobilized; this allows the user to place one final exploding tag on their forehead before detonating all the tags simultaneously.
( Nehan Shōja no Jutsu ) - Temple of Nirvana Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes one handseal, placing all the targets in the area under an illusion where feathers appear to fall from the sky. This slowly puts the opponents to sleep after one turn.
( Kokuangyo no Jutsu ) - Bringer-of-Darkness Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes one handseal, causing the opponent to believe they have been trapped in a world of infinite darkness, where their sense of sight is useless. It is capable of affecting multiple targets within range. However, it does not negate their other senses.

Sasuke first gathers some chakra, weaves a hand seal, and transfers it to his opponent, which places them in an illusion. Removing a large quantity of explosive tags, Sasuke hurls all of them at the target; but due to the illusion set on them, all they see is butterflies. Following up, Sasuke gathers earth chakra and creates a very small, but deep (shoulder deep) swamp. In both reality and in the genjutsu, they feel like their sinking, but the best thing is that they're completely immobilized. With only their head showing in the swamp, Sasuke walks over and slaps a tag on their head, before walking away and detonating all of them. (Butt. Evolution, SotU)

Sasuke begins by weaving a hand seal, before placing his opponent in a genjutsu. Throwing a large sum of explosive tags, they would see it as butterflies. Soon, they would feel like their sinking, but in reality, they are immobilized. Using this opportunity, Sasuke causes two spikes to emerge from the ground; they would not cause any trembling. The spikes hit their knees and Sasuke finishes by placing a tag on the target's forehead. (Butt. Evolution, Mud Spears)
-----------------
Sasuke weaves a hand seal and puts his opponent in a genjutsu. The target would see feathers fall from the sky, but Sasuke changes the terrain to a strong blizzard. The white feathers easily blend in with the white surrounding. Soon, the target unsuspectingly falls asleep. (ToN, False Surroundings)

Sasuke weaves summons one of his Harriers named Kavar. He commands him to fly over his opponent. While the summon does this, Sasuke weaves a hand seal and causes feathers to fall from the sky. The illusionary feather's color would match the Harrier's and the target thinks it would be from Kavar and unsuspectingly falls asleep. (Summoning Jutsu, ToN)
----------------
Sasuke weaves a hand seal and places his opponent in a genjutsu. In the target's POV, every thing goes black and they temporarily loose their vision. Silently move to their blind spot, Sasuke slices off their head with a kunai. (BoD, Silent Homicide)

Sasuke weaves a hand seal and makes the opponent see nothing but Darkness. Touching the ground, he streams a large quantity of explosive tags into the ground and towards your target. Suddenly, the tags emerge from the floor and wrap around them. Sasuke then triggers them to explode. (BoD, Hidden Tag)

Excellent; I particularly liked the combinations with the False Surroundings/Nirvana and the Bringer of Darkness/Homicide.

Good work, Yanks. Any other questions/comments/concerns before I let you go?
