What is earth in the narutoverse?

Earth is one of the 5 chakra natures along with: Wind, Lightning, Fire, and Water. It is used by ninja in jutsu.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of earth?

The strengths, it can absorb water so it is very good against the water style B rank Earth=A rank water. It can also be used for defensive purposes (mud wall) to trap your opponent (Swamp of the Underworld) and attack. It's weaknesses,are lightning techniques. Lightning travels through the earth and destroys it. B rank lightning= A rank Earth. Fire style can also be used in conjunction with earth to make lava.

Who are three effective earth style users from the manga

Onoki

"Please take a seat on the pillar, and feel the earth. How does earth make you feel? If earth were an emotion, what would it be? How does earth affect your five senses (look like, smell like, feel like, ect.)? When you're done, try to meditate, and just "become one" with the earth. You may begin when you're ready."

-I sit on the pillar, noting how sturdy it is. As I feel the earth, I begin to feel powerful. Earth is strong, it doesen't bend just like my will. I keep meditating on this, and I feel stronger like never giving up. If earth was an emotion, I think that it would be patience. Earth can stay in the same shape for thousands of years barely moving or changing. When earth does change, it is often a dramatic change that you cant' miss. I continue to meditate, and I begin to picture myself as part of the earth. When I'm done, I open my eyes and I'm able to feel the power in the earth.-

(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique

Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth

• Focus your chakra into the earth around you
• Build up chakra in one spot under the surface of the earth
• Focus the chakra (and therefore, the earth) upwards, creating a pillar
• Focus chakra into the top half of the pillar
• Use shape-manipulation to mould your chakra into a tool shape
• Release all chakra that's not in the shape of the tool, letting the earth crumble away into the tools shape
• Focus your chakra into the bottom half of the pillar
• Use shape-manipulation to mould your chakra into the shape of a shield
• Release all chakra that's not in the shield shape, letting the earth crumble away into the shield's shape.

Alright sempai I shall try my very best to do as you ask ^^

- I begin by focusing my chakra into the earth directly in front of me, and in my mind visualize it rising as a pillar. At first nothing happens, but as I add chakra the earth begins to rise into a pillar. I then begin to flow my chakra into the top part of the pillar and concentrate on breaking it into smaller pieces. As the top of the pillar breaks, I concentrate my chakra and visualize the shapes of various ninja tools. Eventually, the small pieces of earth turn into small earthern shuriken and kunai. I then start to visualize the bottom part of the pillar turning into a small shield to protect me. I concentrate on the shape of a shield, and flow my chakra into the pillar. I then have a small shield of earth that protects me from minor attacks.-

Advantage: Can create ninja tools if you run out, protects against C rank and below water. Basic shield blocks against kunai, shuriken,etc. Low chakra cost, and can use pillar to increase height and therefor increase perception a bit.

Disadvantage: Doesen't do much damage, any lightning attack will destroy the earth.

(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane

Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.

• Focus your doton chakra into the pillar before you *makes a pillar*
• Use shape manipulation to create a staff, and let everything that is not a staff crumble away
• Hit my clone with it a few times, *Makes a clone* and then throw it at him, making sure it stay's solid the whole time

-I begin by concentrating my doton chakra into the space directly in front of me, I then pour in chakra and make a pillar appear before me. When the pillar rises, I concentrate my doton chakra into the pillar. I then concentrate the shape of a staff, and release the flow of chakra from the parts of the pillar not needed which crumble away. I then pick up the staff and begin to beat your clone with it. I begin by hitting him in the side of the head, then sweeping his legs out from underneath him, and finally throwing it hard at him which makes him disperse. While I'm doing all this, I'm adding earth charka so that the staff does not crumble away.-

Advantage:Easy way to make a weapon, and would be effective against water techniques c rank and below.

Disadvantage: Weak, all lightning attacks will destroy it.

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.

• Focus your doton chakra into the ground beneath you
• Use your chakra to disperse the earth like sand
• Dig through the ground, sending chakra to the surface so you can feel pressure on the surface so you know what's going on
• Use your chakra to compress the sand you push back as you dig to seal the hold, so no one can follow you

I then begin to dig through the ground, and while I do this I send chakra back up to the surface so I can sense what's going on above ground. Yeah, the guy in my sig's Mystogan. And Mystogan isn't Siegrain. While he does bear a near-exact resemblance to him, they are different people. They explain it all later, but for now all you need to know is they're different people, though neither are who they appear to be... O_O

Oh yeah, can I get a pro and con of the Hiding Like a Mole technique, please?

Pro: Can be used to avoid most jutsu. Low chakra cost, can surprise opponent.

Con: Can potentially trap yourself underground, and can be cornered if your opponent uses nagashi. Your opponent could also materialize a dark swamp, and use dropping lid and just wait until you suffocate.

Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.

• Grab my ankles and pull me into the ground as you pull yourself up

Under normal cicumstances, you would then attack. But you're not doing this to a clone, you're doing this to me. :|

Adv: requires minimal chakra, can be used to surprise your opponent.

DisAdv: If you're opponent uses nagashi while you're holding him, your screwed. Relatively easy to avoid (Most lightning jutsu)

The pro/con lets me know you understand the jutsu... There may be something important that many people overlook about the jutsu that one should know. Of coruse, if you still miss it with pro/con, I'll tell you, but for the most part I want you thinking about how jutsu can be used and how they can be countered; if I'm just asking you to state descriptions, there's a perfectly good description right at the bottom of every jutsu, making "training" useless.

(Doton: Iwa Rendan) - Earth Release: Rock Barrage

Description: The user will concentrate their chakra into their arm and then release their chakra creating a ring of rocks that are then flung at the opponent.

• Focus doton chakra into your arm
• Release the chakra into the ground, raising a ring of rocks
• Use your chakra to propel them forwards

-I concentrate earth chakra into my arms and into the ground to make a ring of rocks. I then use my earth chakra to push them forward at your clone so that they strike him all over his body until it disperses.-

Pros: Low chakra cost, many rocks fly at the same time, could be useful against C rank and below water techs.

Cons: Doesen't do much damage, most if not all lightning jutsu will defend against this.
