Not that we know of, it can merge to anything solid as far as i'm concerned. Snake summonings, the ground, trees, etc.

I think the difference is that Oro can only merge (superficially) with solid units while Zetsu can actually become one with nature and travel through it at high speeds.
Edit: Forgot to mention that Mayfly can't be detected by sensors, atk prevention tech doesn't go that far.

Unless Orochimaru is in his unhealthy state, which is a disadvantage for a single technique. I don't see him being able to land a successful blow on Tobirama.

I need to read up more on Orochimaru to give an argument, but I think it is a pretty even fight considering Orochimaru cannot dream of hitting Tobirama, and if Tobirama hits Orochimaru, after the first Hiraishingiri, Orochimaru can use Oral Rebirth and spam that ground merging technique.

Why ppl think Orochimaru cannot hit Tobirama? If Tobi's so fast, he should be able to solo whole NV, since no one could ever touch him. There are tons of examples in the manga when fast characters get caught off guard/blindsided and here Tobirama has a master of sneak attacks as an opponent.

Also lol at people underrating Orochimaru's speed and reactions.

Orochimaru is quite durable, going by the fact how he was clawed a couple of times by 4-tails Naruto and managed to cobble himself back together. So I am not even remotely buying this 'one hit from Tobirama wrecks him' - it's not feasible or a viable debating option given what we have seen. Then we have Eight Branch Technique as well, and powerful Snake summons to protect him just as Sasuke did so against Deidara's homing Clay bomb. Orochimaru also has Futon-Release, with his he deflected the Kunais back in part one, it should be effective in CqC combat or at close range.

Ororchimaru takes this mid-difference.
