Lava Style, also known as Yōton, is an Kekkei Genkai comprised of two nature elements: Earth and Fire, to create volcanic materials such as lava or rubber. It is categorized as Yang. Having no bloodline connection, it is wielded by different users, while taking different properties and usage of lava such as:
  • Mei Terumī of Kirigakure - strong acidic mud
  • Son Gokū and its jinchūriki's Rōshi from Iwagakure and Naruto Uzumaki from Konohagakure - hot molten rocks, either in more solid or liquid states
  • Kurotsuchi of Iwagakure - quicklime
  • Dodai of Kumogakure - vulcanised rubber-like material
I don't really know the RP stuff about it besides its rules.

I really hate the face the Manga doesn't go into detail about this stuff.... .____.

A mixture of rubber and sulfur and when heated under pressure, it becomes stable, tougher and more resistant to heat. It is also very elastic being able to mold to any desired shape and is an good insulator.

I know, and it's that reason as to why some people don't understand why Rubber is a Lava Variant.

Okay, so I'll get you to the techniques as I took too long getting this far, sorry .__.

(Yoton no Jutsu) - Lava Technique

Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive

Description: The user will use his chakra to produce walls, pillars and simple constructs made of Lava to rise from the ground within range. The hot lava is damaging to the touch though the simple technique lacks the ability to add to that high levels of kinetic impact and deliver high damage. In alternative, the user can also exhale lava from this mouth which will be shaped into his desired form.

Basic Lava jutsu, equivalent to the basic D-rank Earth Release Technique. With that, it basically allows you to do almost the same thing, but with lava; create walls, pools of lava etc. This lava has no real force behind it and basically is just used to keep opponents away due to the severe risk of injury Lava posses.
This was made for our RP so I don't think you'd be able to find pictures of it... well, I'm pretty sure it was made for our RP O__O'

(Yōton: Gomu Rōpu) - Lava Release: Rubber Rope

Dodai used this to grab Naruto and pull him back to safety and out of the fight he was about to get into. What you do is focus your lava chakra into your arm, before solidifying it into rubber while whipping it towards your target. Pretty basic and you might want to find a picture of this for your own research.

For this, I'd like you do discuss your views on these jutsu: Weaknesses, Strengths, uses in battle and anything else you'd like to bring up. As well as post pictures if they exist for the jutsu I post.

Just to note: I read that Mei's Lava-variant is a "strong acidic mud flow". Since it only states (in the databook) that Dodai converts lava into vulcanized rubber or rubber-like material, I'll just use Mei's concept of the Lava-variant instead of Son Gokū's the Four Tailed Beast/Roushi the Jinchuuriki Lava-variant, which depicts actual lava.

Analyze: Simple. Changing the lava form as a flowing stream or to construct walls and pillars (basically lava geysers) for aiding the user. Although, its manipulation extends up to mid-range, making it difficult to do any harm at long-range. It would be harmful to the user if touching it, thus, employing to clutch as a weapon or as a foothold to leap off of is not an option. The lava can cause physical injury to the external body, namely the skin. The damage results in 3rd degree burn or fatal injury. It can also burn down vegetation and some structures (by melting them away).

Battle Tactic: Knowing how deadly the lava is, I doubt I will be able to land a hit on someone. It would mostly be used as a distraction to set-up a big attack.

Analyze: Lava is shape into a rope and then converted into rubber-like material. Serving more of a purpose to ensnare one target or withdraw an ally from the attack line. Although its highly effective for support, one can also use it as an offensive to lash the target. It can be cut like any normal rope using a sharp weapon, or specifically, elementally countered by Raiton or Lightning, due to its piercing power.

Battle Tactic: Just support. Not really for offensive needs since it only stretches short range.

I wouldn't be trying to say your Lava is akin to Mei's Lava Release, I'd just stick with it being lava and going with the properties in the jutsu description. For the Basic Lava Release Jutsu, you can expect it to be more of a viscous (thick) lava as it needs to hold a definitive shape.

Description: The user will make two handseals (Boar+Tiger) and focus his chakra into the ground, manipulating it and controlling it into forming clones that will rise near them. The clones are made of Lava though indistinguishable from the user like all other clones. If hit, the clones will disperse into hot molten Lava and injure whatever is touching them. Capable of using Earth, Fire and Lava techniques, the clones have a duration limit, unlike other clones. As time passes, the lava becomes colder and colder, slowly hardening until the clone is left as a crumbling rock.
Note: Follows normal clone rules and guidelines.

This is yet another clone variant to add to your list of clone jutsu. This one has a more solid form, similar to the Rock Clone jutsu where if feels like you've punched a rock... except this time you're punching lava. Once again, this is standard lava that you've created by manipulating the ground (using your earth and fire chakra) to create lava, then by further manipulation to create the clone(s). Once formed, they look no different from you however your opponent will of course notice you creating the lava and moulding that into a clone O__O' This clone has a few extra perks compared to the standard elemental clones, in that it can use Fire, Earth and Lava jutsu up to and including B-rank. Having a Dodai bio also means this clone can use the Rubber Variant up to B-rank.

(Yoton: Maguma Engo No Jutsu) - Lava Release: Magma Protection

Description: A technique that is used to protect the user from small incoming attacks or taijutsu. The user will kick the ground, releasing a burst of chakra into it which in return makes 4 orbs of lava, the size of fists, to rise from the ground. By fueling the technique with a steady stream of chakra, the user keeps the orbs rotating and moving around him to protect him from incoming attacks. However, the orbs are dependent on the user's input and conscious control to act and defend. The orbs are incredibly hot and thus damaging to the touch.
Note: Lasts up to 3 turns per use; while active, the user can only use Earth, Fire and Lava elements.

The action of you kicking the ground is what you'll use to transfer a burst of your lava chakra into the ground, out of which four fist-sized orbs of lava will rise. These will float around you by your will so long as you stream chakra to the orbs constantly and maintain your focus on their location. They don't move automatically, let that be said now.
This jutsu does limit you to using only earth, fire and lava however it serves as a good defence against taijutsu users and those that may rely on speed to get in close. I mean, who wants to run directly into a ball of lava?
After the three turns are up, or you stop streaming chakra into the orbs, the lava will harden and fall to the ground... so don't have them hovering about your head O__O'

So... do you thing now O__O'

I'm pretty sure pictures don't exist for at least the Lava Clone jutsu... but I'm sure you know what a clone looks like by now xD

Just to iterate to you, most of the Lava Release was originally a CE made by a member way-back-when, so the jutsu were originally poorly described until Scorps recently updated them. However, you'll be able to pick out the Cannon jutsu pretty easily ^^

Analyze: Basically, after performing the Boar and Tiger hand-seals (in sequence), a Lava infused Kage Bunshin is created using the ground as a medium. It is able to perform normal Kage Bunshin "duties" and is capable with interacting with the environment. Still distributes the users chakra. When injured, it reverts back to its lava-state, at the same time burning/melting whatever it is touching. Simple rules: Earth, Fire and Lava techniques up to B-rank. And the side effects is that lava infused is cooling, placing a time limit on how long the Kage Bunshin can stay in the battle and limits movement.

Battle Tactic: Mostly support or distraction.

Question: Can I utilize this technique without the ground being its medium, instead, spew lava from my mouth to shape into the Kage Bunshin? (similar to used by Ōnoki)

Analyze: 4 Orbs in the nature of lava are created from the ground and manipulated to float around the user in a circular formation as a defense. Each orb is about the size of a fist. It can deflect incoming projectiles and stop Taijutsu movements. The Jutsu maintain activation by the user fueling it chakra. Concentration on the Jutsu is imperative when maintaining it and any other Jutsu besides of the Earth, Fire, and Lava Elements disrupt the users control.

Question: Can I use this for an offensive as well?

First Question: No, you need to use the ground as a medium for the formation of the clones unfortunately.

Second Question: Of course you can use these to attack, so long as the opponent is in range. This is a good zoning jutsu (controlling where your opponent moves to) due to the fact no one wants to be burnt by Lava >__< All you need to do is stream chakra to it (-5 per turn) and stay alive xD

By either channelling chakra into the ground or expelling it from your mouth, you'll manipulate the created lava to form a temporary wall. Not only will it burn flesh but it is solid enough to stop similar ranked projectiles.

What's the main issue with using walls as a defence in general and what is particularly dangerous about using a lava wall?

If you see the lava wall behind Mei in that picture, Mei used this jutsu to cover the door in lava. You basically just spit out a lava globe that has the consistency of Mud, rather than a thinner, hotter lava. After one turn the lava cools down and is just normal, chakra-less earth.

A quick rubber defence that you release from your mouth to quickly wrap around you. This has the same issue with most walls however it leaves your peripherals open to watch for follow-up attacks... that being said it won't protect you from a jutsu that might swamp over you, such as sticky-mud drop. This is more to block straight on-coming projectiles.

For Lava Globes, you said they revert back to a soft sticky mud. They actually solidify into something more akin to solid stone.

You also missed my question about the Lava Wall Jutsu:

What's the main issue with using walls as a defence in general and what is particularly dangerous about using a lava wall?

However, position in front of the user, it only covers their front and leaves every other direction open for attack. Other issues building a wall are debris which after the wall has been struck with a powerful attack could cause broken fragments to fall on the user; and losing one sight of the opponent is another as the wall blocks their field of vision.

2. The lava-nature of the wall is dangerous not only to the target, but to the user because it can cause a degree of burning and melt their skin as well, if the come into contact with it.

The lava sphere is released and engulfs the target in lava, causing the high temperatures to melt through skin. Controlling the chakra mustered, the lava balls can change volume (miniature size) - altering its rank- which increases the scope of your attack to wide range.

Battle Tactic: If my opponent is station at long-range, I would probably use this technique by releasing it first as a distraction and maneuver behind it to facilitate my movements for a feint attack.

The descriptions cool because its simple.

Analyze: The user release from their mouth a small volume of lava at incredible velocity towards their target. The speedy release catches the opponent off guard and give them little time to react. They are engulf in lava, causing the high temperatures to melt through their skin. The lava conditions, like other techniques, is that it cool downs and turns hard, similar to rock.

Battle Tactic: A setup in a surprise attack or used as a direct attack.

No, no, no... not this jutsu. This one only lets you release the one fireball that is the same size as the Great Fireball Jutsu. I used the picture to illustrate what the fireball would look like, as in the texture of the fireball, not to illustrate the execution of the jutsu. My apologies that I didn't make that as clear as I should have.

Description: The user performs 6 hand seals (Boar+Ram+Rabbit+Ox+Ram+Tiger) as they charge chakra deep into the ground. Magma erupts from the ground and surges upwards creating a large dome either around just the opponent or both the opponent and the user. Within the prison is it very hot until the magma cools, tiring anyone caught inside. When the magma cools it is very hard to break and becomes an almost inescapable prison.
Note: Lava takes 3 turns to harden into rock.

This jutsu forms a dome of, initially, molten lava over the target area to form a much more effective prison than the Earth counterpart. Due to the fact it's lava, I'd suggest you wouldn't want to put yourself inside the lava... only use it against opponents, or maybe with a lava clone?

Description: The user does 4 handseals (Rabbit+Tiger+Ox+Ram) and slams his hands on the ground. By channeling his chakra inside the ground, the user can trigger up to 5 large geysers of hot lava to erupt. Before erupting, the ground above quickly becomes red and hot before breaking apart under the pressure of the Lava. By sustaining the technique by keeping ones hands in the ground, the geyser will initially shoot a large quantity of molten lava, slowing rapidly as time passes and the lava cools and becomes less fluid. Even if not sustained, the lava will still overflow and run across the ground depending on the topography and has the potential to cover a large area in hot lava.
Note: Can be sustained for 2 turns, after which the lava hardens into rock.


Similar to the Magma Prison, you first need to channel your chakra into the ground by slamming your hand on the ground in this case (implying you need contact with the earth in order to use these jutsu), before causing up to five lava geysers to erupt.
Essentially, you are creating volcanic eruptions on the battlefield; using both the eruption and subsequent lava-flow to attack your opponent.

How can you use the terrain to assure you don't take damage from activating this jutsu?


Try and give a more detailed battle tactic/combination for these please, including things like jutsu names you'd use to combo etc.

Once you've done all that... tell me what you know of Quicklime.

Description: The user performs 6 hand seals (Boar+Ram+Rabbit+Ox+Ram+Tiger) as they charge chakra deep into the ground. Magma erupts from the ground and surges upwards creating a large dome either around just the opponent or both the opponent and the user. Within the prison is it very hot until the magma cools, tiring anyone caught inside. When the magma cools it is very hard to break and becomes an almost inescapable prison.
Note: Lava takes 3 turns to harden into rock.



Analyze: The user kneads chakra while doing a string of hand-seals: Boar → Ram → Rabbit → Ox→ Ram → and then Tiger - and place their palm on the ground. The chakra is inserted into the lava channel, where lava is manipulated (putting pressure), causing a explosive eruption. Controlling the lava with their chakra, it is shaped into hot molten dome, covering both the user and target. Sealing all escape routes, no one is leaving this impenetrable defense as the lava surrounds them. The inside is life threatening as it saps both the user and target of oxygen.

Battle Tactic: As you said, a Shadow Clone should be used in my place instead considering the drawbacks of this technique. Also, further bidding the target can prevent further escape.

Multiple fountains of lava is ejected from underneath the ground and over the battlefield effecting those in the intermediate area. By sustaining this technique (by keeping their hand to the ground), a series of short pulses, or a continuous jet of lava can produce a lava lake, creating lava flow, which converge around the target. The damage is fatal if the lava makes contact - due to its high temperatures - resulting in a degree of burn or melting of skin. The lava eventually cools, turning into rock.

Battle Tactic: Mostly to overwhelm my opponent all on fronts. His focus will be too much on escaping the dangers of the lava. I close any escape routes. Probably use a Shadow Clone to assist while in conjunction, combine it with a Lightning technique to shoot down from above.

Normally one would reach high ground so performing earth techniques to elevate yourself is crucial to your survival.

What you know of Quicklime?

It is a variation of Lava. In real life, heated limestone. Translates that into the Naruto series, both fire and earth nature transformation (with the addition of calcium) is converted to form quicklime. It is expelled from the mouth, where it is spat on the target. It can inflict damage or restrict mobility. Similar to cement, by pouring water - or using water techniques - on the substance it drys and harden. The water technique can also increase the scope of the attack by spreading the quicklime across the battlefield.

Description: After Performing the snake seal the user spits either a single large quantity or multiple smaller ones of an adhesive quicklime from their mouth in the form of a substantial projectile, which is capable of inflicting damage to an opponent on impact. This ability can also be manipulated in order to restrict the intended target's movements, as after the initial blast the remnants of the substance can act in a similar manner to quick-drying cement. However, the technique requires the subsequent addition of water to set off the necessary reaction to make the substance harden. This can be easily achieved through the subsequent use of a water release technique, which can also serve to increase the area covered by the substance, thus further increasing the potential range of the technique. After the target's feet gets stuck, the material can then be manipulated to encapsulate their body.

Quicklime in the RP is quick-drying cement so long as water is added to set it. Pretty sure Water Horn was the jutsu Kurotsuchi used to set the quicklime she used against Kabutomaru.
So the quicklime acts in a manner more akin to water, you can spit it out in all sorts of projectiles or as a stream from your mouth. Once released, you can then manipulate the chakra in the quicklime to wrap around your target(s). You can think of the consistency being similar to Sticky Mid Drop or Swamp of the Underworld.

Since the lava is shot upwards in an arc, so as to descend onto the targets from above, it prevents the intended individuals from jumping up to avoid the attack. A great deal of steam is created afterwards by the effects of the lava, so should the targets still be alive, a follow-up attack can be conducted while their vision remains obscured.


Okay, this jutsu has a bit of conflict with the cannon version in regards to it being either an acidic substance or lava. For this, it is lava. Using the seals, you'll mould and release lava from your mouth in a thin-blanket that you arc upwards into the air. Using it this way and aiming behind your opponent, means they can't retreat backwards and moving either side would be dangerous, forcing them to block instead of counter or evade.
The left over steam, in the Manga or Anime(?) is actually some form of acid, since this is Mei's jutsu... in the RP, this is simply non-chakra based steam that can obscure non-doujutsu vision.

Analyze: After performing the necessary hand-seals: Dog → Boar → Tiger → Ox → Rat → Bird, a large volume of lava is spew from the users mouth. It was created to be extensive limit the movement of the target. Being a calculated move utilize by the user to prevent escape, it blankets through the air - in a up-slope - while curving, to descend above the target. Adding to this lava lethality, due to the extreme heat, stem emits which further obstruct their visions, should they survive the deadly attack.

Battle Tactic: As you said, it could be follow up with another attack. I would suggest an Earth or Water technique aim at the target from below. Or to produce a better result of this technique being successful, I would further restrict the targets movements or block their exist of escaping such as creating a earth wall.

Description: After performing the following hand seals Dog → Snake The user takes a deep breath and then expels a large amount of lava, which quickly solidifies into multiple boulders of molten rock that are fired towards the target with a tremendous amount of force. Due to their composition, the boulders can melt through several trees with ease and are difficult to avoid in their entirety, because they're dispersed over an expansive range.

A jutsu with a wide field of attack, making it difficult to avoid in combat, leaving either an underground retreat or direct defence. These are heavy and still molten hot, however as you can see in the picture, they are only about the size of a beach-ball.

(Yoton: Yūkaidan no Jutsu) - Lava Style: Melting Bullet Technique

Description: The user will concentrate her chakra and release from their mouth a large amount of lava that is manipulated into a large bullet that travels at the target.

Essentially a higher-ranked and larger in size Lava ball jutsu. You'll release the large amount of lava from your mouth and with shape manipulation, make it look like a large bullet of red-hot lava. If you can find a picture of this jutsu, that would be appreciated as it sounds like a Game-only jutsu.
The size, I'd say, would be about the size of Itachi's Great Fireball technique (see picture below).
