Lava Release (熔遁; 溶遁, Yōton; Viz "Corrosion Style" or "Lava Style") is an advanced nature kekkei genkai that combines fire and earth-based chakra to create lava and related substances that can serve multi-faceted purposes.

When used normally, it creates lava like in the Kage Summit.

However, the earth and fire can be mixed in different ways to obtain different results.

So the reason Mei lava looks different, it's not because of an animation error or a color change.
She's using a different jutsu!

I think the reason it looks different, it's because, althrough it's still called Lava style, it's acid.
Which i think makes sense, i mean lava would burn too slowly the wood, so she uses acid instead.


TL;DR: Lava Release looks different because it's a different jutsu, it's acid which will corrode the wood quicker.
No animation error or color change.

Hopefully this will stop some of the complaining.

However there were a lot of people complaining about this, both on the episode thread and on other Naruto forums.

I dont think Mei was aiming at the wood she used acid because she didn't want fire all over the battlefield.

Lava isn't fire, it's lava. I don't see a difference between using lava and acid xD.
