PLANKING is sooo last year - the latest photographic craze to sweep social media requires a little more force.

Known as “Vadering”, it pays homage to the ultimate Star Wars baddie Darth Vader, with subjects re-enacting the scene in which he lifts one of his enemies off the ground and chokes him.

Sounds macabre, but the results are more amusing than monstrous.

More than 11,000 people have posted “Vadering” pictures on Instagram since the concept emerged last month - among them brides using The Force on their new husbands, toddlers levitating entire groups of people and US soldiers in full ceremonial dress getting in on the act.

Celebrities have also joined the craze.

US actress Jessica Alba posted a photo last week showing her falling victim to a pseudo-Darth Vader during a tour of Singapore. It garnered more than 50,000 likes.
