What? Joel did the right thing. Screw the fireflies, screw Ellie's death. It would've been a pointless death.
It wasn't clear if the scientists would be able to make a vaccine from one single sample. How would they reproduce it? And even if they could make many samples of this vaccine, what's there to "save" anyway? Almost all humans are already dead/infected and those who managed to survive are mostly bandits, cannibals or other monsters who don't deserve to be saved. And even if they deserved it, how would the fireflies bring it to the people? Why do you think they wouldn't keep it for themselves?
Joel did the right thing. Neither he nor Ellie do owe the world a damn thing. All that matters in a world like this are the people that you love. And that what needs to be protected. Throughout the game you learn that the destination doesn't matter. The journey is the reward. I would've done the same thing.
i think its a good set up for a second game
if Ellie did die and everything was saved, a second game would be a disaster or some spin off on characters people care little about. i think its better the game elaborates further on this drama and the characters theyve set up so well
I don't think so. Ellie and Joel's story is told, I wouldn't want them to pick that up again.
The sequel (there will definitely be one) should be about new characters and a new story. We all learned to know and love Ellie and Joel, why wouldn't we be able to do the same again?
