Heroin come from the poppy plant Papaver Somniferum if I remember correctly which grows in the indian subcontinent as well as pakistan/afghanistan and neighbouring regions

they take the poppy buds and slice them so that the "sap" the edges with a white sticky material. the sticky material is then harvested and refined. In India the poppy plant is grown and harvested legally the most in the world for production of medical morphine. Unfortunatly the bad side is that it can be made to heroin by poor farmers for profit.
