Lamar Smith does it again, folks! The same guy who supported and lobbied SOPA and blamed gun violence on Gaming has this! A bill that, when approved, would scrap PEER REVIEW from the National Science Foundation guidelines and add in non-scientific measures to be determined by Congress.
As if to damage the United States even further, the guidelines to establish Scientific Principles will be changed for the worse, in order to "be fair" with non-scientific ideals. I don't know if anyone else realizes this, but we kinda need Peer Review to eliminate nonsense and bias in the first place.
Congress doesn't know a lick of science...come on now. But they do love the smell of bills! Remember that time when they approved the measure to declare Pizza a vegetable? This is a silly example, but this shows just how little their understanding of science is, AND how easily they will reach into their pockets to support anything their funding wants.
You want doctors in the future to support the exponential growth of patients coming in from the approved NHC bill, America? Too bad, because we won't have the Ph.D's to train them.
