"good excuse"? What?! It is not an excuse, it is their main objective, demographic to earn money from... Just like it is mainly a male protagonist in violent, action video games. That also has its own target audience, and not an excuse.

Well, you could say, if she was not dead, Konan was an awesome female character.. She kind of owned Obito in minutes, also he did use Izangi ( I do not know how to spell it)..So, she was a useful female character...Temari, she is also awesome, aswell...The fight with Tayuya.
I apologise if I offended Obito or Tayuya, I was just making a friendly point, not hating.

Adding new females doesn't really fit in the plot except for new chicks introduced in the Kage Summit arc and war arc

Why yes, it does. Naruto doesn't have a single female who is just a killing machine who relies on brute force for instance. There is only one female villain (Konan) who isn't even a real villain - she was a follower or Yahiko/Nagato. Temari did have a potential but then she was reduced to a background role, became more emotional and a pairing material. Heck, Naruto could use a "butch" female type character - notice how there isn't even a single female with a short, boyish haircut?
