I think Lightning is stronger than him because she rivalled the strongest FF antagonist (Caius Ballad) thus far and she has a very strong summon, Odin. How would Trunks deal with Cloud's Omnislash? And if i remember correctly, Cloud beat Safer Sephiroth who destroyed the solar system by using his Supernova ability.
He beat a solar system level character so i'm pretty sure he would beat Trunks. Cell was a solar system level character and Trunks was no match for him.
well unless trunks could breathe in space then he would win, but sadly without that ability he would lose.
but honestly solar busting isnt much of a huge feat i would say in dbz verse, anyone from frieza or above that could destroy a solar system in the matter of what kind of blast they use. we know frieza was struggling to destroy a planet, during goku fight, but was he really using a planet busting attacks on goku? well no exactly, he has to use a charged ki shaped of a supernova and its called deathball to destroy a planet.
which took him little to no effort to create with his finger during planet vegeta destruction and when he tried to destroy the planet earth, and trunks simply stopped it with his hand.
also clouds omnislash isnt really the fastest teqnique in the world, i would imagine trunks should have no problem dodging it, but hey comparing an rpg locked battle to a true action combat? doesnt really go together.
