"Always ready Deno. When I think of genjutsu I envision the ability to create illusions and mind !@$# people. This can be done by casting jutsu via the targets five sense's. Most notable users are the Uchiha clan while Hyuuga clan are the most immune to it. Oh here is some pie to go with that bourbon."Dean makes his way to find Keji once more. He had taught this kid Earth, not too long ago. Apparently, Elijah taught him how to wield a sword and he needed help once more. Dean didn't mind, he was a good student. Discipline and good manners. Not that it was really needed, but it always made training fun. Dean wore his Nekura cloak over his usual attire. He walked slowly, whilst drinking a small bottle of Bourbon.
"-Ah! Keji, we meet once more. This is going to be a bit more complex than the Earth we did? Are you ready?"
Dean asks, jokingly.
"Well, let's start off with the basics. What do you know of Genjutsu? Anything about it that comes to mind, how its done, what it is, how to detect it, etc. Don't worry about not knowing enough, we'll be going through everything anyway."
He was always eager to teach some Genjutsu. Not only was it his favorite thing to teach, but also something he was trying to become very good at.
"I believe you would have to be smart or at least observant to notice that you are in a genjutsu. For example look for any small changes to environment or something that just seems really off. Another would be through having great chakra control or a dojutsu which allows the user to sense the irregularities in their own systems." Keji kicks a rock "Sorry for the brief answers I really don't know much about genjutsu."Dean listens to Keji, and takes the pie as well. He didn't know much, but he was easy to work with.
"Ooh, pie! Alright, a bit lacking in various details, but we'll go step by step. Let's start with the basic, what is Genjutsu. Unlike Ninjutsu, Genjutsu produces an illusionary experience, through disrupting the opponent's chakra flow. This is usually aimed at the opponent's brain, so it alters the senses of the opponent, making them perceive, whatever. This can range from seeing weird stuff, feeling tired or sleepy, tasting chili in their mouth, hearing the sounds of howling dogs and even feeling cold or warm. Genjutsu is split in three parts: Normal Genjutsu, Sound Genjutsu and Doujutsu based Genjutsu. We'll be covering the first.
Now basically, to make things easier, imagine one's default chakra flow, as being in a state of balance. Equal, and together, a combination of spiritual and physical energy. Now, when a Genjutsu is induced via chakra, that balance, is disrupted, no more slow flowing waters, but now raging rapids (metaphorically speaking). Its scrambled, the link between physical and mental, allowing the user of the Genjutsu to affect the senses, and of course, make your experience whatever. The trigger is usually a light, sound, hand seals, eye contact etc.
Anyway, how do you think one would detect a Genjutsu? If I place you in one now, how would you know?"
Dean then waited for Keji to explain.
Secondly, we have sheer will power, or dubbed, surge techniques. This alters the balance between the physical and spiritual energies, by making the spiritual energy spike. This is done through the Kai technique, or elemental techniques that are released from all, or many, of your Tenketsu. These are capable of breaking Genjutsu, one rank below their own rank. Like for example, Chidori Nagashi is a surge technique and is A rank. It can release B rank and below Genjutsu. Earth Hardening technique is S rank, and can break A rank and below Genjutsu, and so on.D Rank Genjutsu: Chipping a Finger (like one does as he bites to draw blood for a Summoning Jutsu)
C Rank Genjutsu: Low level Physical Attacks, Bitting a chunk of your Cheek
B Rank Genjutsu: Low ranked Taijutsu/Freestyle
A Rank Genjutsu: High ranked Taijutsu, Stabbing Yourself in minor muscle, Cutting yourself, Breaking Smaller bones, Low level Burning/Voltage, Painful Cold
S Rank Genjutsu: EIG/Sage level Taijutsu, Breaking Bones, Deep Stabs or cuts, Medium Voltage/Burning, Extreme Painful Cold, Bitting your tongue off
"This I may have an idea of. I believe layering a genjutsu is when you cast a two or more genjutsus on your enemy that don't contradict one another. For example if my first jutsu created trees and the second created birds they don't contradict so nothing would appear out of the ordinary. Now to break free from a layered genjutsu one must use the appropriate method to break the highest rank cast upon them. Example If I was but under a A rank gen then a B rank gen I would have to break the A rank in order to free myself from both illusions. At least that is what I have gathered from studying other shinobi.""Not bad, Keji. You mentioned three, and they are correct, somewhat. Allow me to add some detail.
The first way, is Pain. Real pain, alters the balance between the physical and spiritual energies, and makes the physical energy spike. This causes it to "reset" in a sense, and then go back to its normal state, breaking the Genjutsu in the process. It sounds a bit complex, but its quite simple. The more the pain, the higher the rank of Genjutsu it can break. Here is a small guide to help you out as to what pain is need to break a certain rank of Genjutsu.
Earth Hardening technique is S rank, and can break A rank and below Genjutsu, and so on.
Lastly, the introduction of Foreign chakra into your system. This would cause the chakra flow to be unbalanced, and thus, reset, breaking the Genjutsu. Examples of introduction of Foreign chakra are things like entering Sage Mode, Activating a Curse Mark, having a Bijuu help if you are a Jinchuuriki, or having a friend or ally use the Chakra Transfer Technique.
Remember that in order to use one of these, one must first realize that a Genjutsu has been cast, through logical reasoning, and/or the use of a Doujutsu or sensory. Last but not least, what do you know of Layering Genjutsu?"
Dean asks, having now covered the release methods.
As the clone appears before him Keji kicks sand into his eyes "Welcome to the future." As the clone regains his sight all he would see is a land that looks like it was hit by a thousand bijuu bombs. "Advantages. Changing entire terrains or simple terrain features. Another advantage is the fact that this jutsu doesn't require hand seals meaning that it can be cast at any point and time. Disadvantages. The ability to change entire terrains. Think of the land going from tropical rain forest to a desert. You would instantly know you were under genjutsu. Another disadvantage would be that you have to cause a diversion in order to use it. Imagine watching pieces of land vanish or seemingly disappear. For me to use this in combat I woulf first distract my opponent like I did with the clone but I would use it to hide a earth style I had placed.""Good job, that's pretty much the gist of it. Genjutsu is complex, but when broken down, it is quite simple as well. Now, moving on to the techniques, I will explain it to you, then I want you to perform it against a clone of mine, give me at least two advantages and disadvantages of the technique, and also, how you would use it in battle.
Beginning with the first one, you will induce a Genjutsu on the opponent with no hand seals. This allows you to change the terrain, via the Genjutsu. This allows you to alter features of the terrain, like create new structures, or hide current ones, or even completely change it. This means, you can make a forest into a desert, or perhaps hide a pillar, so the opponent smashes into it. A very interesting and not complex, technique. Useful, if you know how to use it. Remember, only the terrain. Use it against my clone."
Dean creates a clone that runs towards Keji.
Keji weaves five hand seals and begins to manipulate the clones vision with his chakra via eye sight. As this happens the clone begins to see Keji disappear into a large amount of cherry blossoms. These blossoms begin to surround the clone but every time they make a pass the clone is cut by Keji's sword in the real world."Indeed, remember that the features changed can't be too extreme, as that would take you out of the scope of what the technique is capable of doing. Although your performance was okay, next add that you use your chakra, to induce the illusion, and what not. Anyway, here you go."
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
"Okay, now for the next technique. Form five hand seals, and induce an illusion on the opponent. To them, it would seem as if you have dissolved into a large amount of cherry blossom petals. These surround the opponent, and obscure their vision, all in the Genjutsu. In reality, as the opponent's vision is obscured, it allows you to attack from their blind spot. A nice technique, and can be combined with Ninjutsu for a great effect. Use it against my clone."
Dean creates a clone that runs towards Keji.
As the clone appears Keji begins to circle around it. In the process he weaves a single hand seal activating a genjutsu and throws a paper bomb, Because of the genjutsu this paper bomb appear as a clone of Keji that is charging Deans clone. As Deans clone goes to strike the paper bomb makes contact and explodes."Remember that Genjutsu takes effect almost immediately, unless stated otherwise. Good job though, here you go."
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.
"Now for the next one, form a single hand seal and induce an illusion on the opponent. After doing so, throw a single paper bomb towards the opponent. The opponent would see the paper bomb as a clone that is running towards them. This allows you to combine this technique with a real clone, and once the paper bombs hits its target, it explodes. A very simple technique, that only works in Short range. Use it against my clone."
Dean creates a clone that runs towards Keji.
Keji looks into the clones eyes transferring chakra via eye contact. The clone starts to see multiple Keji's appear from the pillars, water, buildings, ground and they all begin to attack. Every time the clone hit a Keji it would multiply and every time a Keji hit him it left a cut. As the battle continued Keji weaved a single hand sign transferring chakra via eye contact again and threw a paper bomb. This paper bomb was disguised as Keji and rushed the clone; thinking it was a regular attacker the clone struck it only to be blown up by the paper bomb."Great job, Keji. That was good. Here you go."
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes.
"Next, we got a Genjutsu that is induced without the need for hand seals. This allows you to cause illusionary clones to emerge from the surrounding area. This can be from trees, the ground, etc. This Genjutsu can be combined with real clones to make it even more difficult to discern. But, if the illusionary clones are hit, they multiply. A nice technique, but ultimately serves to only distract the opponent. Use it against my clone."
Dean creates a clone that runs towards Keji.
Keji bow's after hearing Deans kind words "Thank's." He raises himself up right "I learn from one of the best." After this Dean explains the next genjutsu and summons a clone. Keji follow up by weaving two hand seals and transferring chakra into the clone via eye sight. This causes the illusion of leaves to swirl around the clone obscuring his vision and after a while the leaves fall to reveal his worst fears. As the leaves fall the clone begins to see Yellow eye's killing his mom and dad, Lucifer possessing Sams body, Cain, the Curse Mark reappearing on his arm, Purgatory, Mother surrounded by her Alpha monsters, and finally the Darkness. The clone collapses to his knees."Great job, and that's a nice way to use Layering of Genjutsu. Here you go."
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.
"Now, the last D rank Genjutsu. Start off by forming two hand seals, and inducing the Genjutsu on the opponent. This causes the opponent to see a swirl of leaves surround them. Not only does this obscure their vision, but it also distracts them. After a few moments, the leaves would fall away and show the opponent an image of their worst fear. This is capable of shocking them greatly, and even causing them to faint. A simple technique, but it gives itself away easily. Use it against my clone."
Dean creates a clone that runs towards Keji.
