death note sucks after L's death.

actually in general even after L dies death note is one of the best series. but before L was killed death note was the greatest series of all time.

I completely agree, L was brilliant in death.

Also, OP spoilers much. Why ruin a great show for those who haven't seen it.

Those guys shouldn't have been on this thread but instead should have been watching the awesome series. How can you leave awesomeness in a middle and come on a thread? :p

On a serious note, do put Spoilers in your title and yeah, L is the greatest.

ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY
GET A HEADACHE FROM AWESOME DIALOGUES.

No seriously, you don't watch Death Note with breaks! xd
Did the with Steins;Gate - 24 Episodes, no break :p

Those were the only "long" Shows I actually marathoned tho, I think.

Near & Mello are fine, I actually find both of them combined much more entertaining to watch than L. L's death was almost perfect, better in the manga because it wasn't at all expected. As much as I loved L, i'm happy he died because it majorly raised the game for all of the characters. People should give Near & Mello a chance too, it'd become boring for Light & L to continue chasing each other for another 20 episodes.

Exactly. Read my mind.

Steins Gate and also, 1st season of Code Geass. And obviously, Death Note.

I would have if they were presented as another kind of genius. But they just seem like weak and pale copy-cats of L till the end. And intellect apart, L has something indescribable that no one can match. And it seems like sacrilege when someone tries to do it. Near and Mello tried those "imitations"; mainly my reason why I don't like them (especially Near)

Near is a ripoff of L and I dislike that. I like him, but he is.

Mello is a badass version, so he's cool. Death Note changed a lot after L died. For the better? No, but it's like life. Light was on top and eventually it'd fall.

I voted Light lives. I'm glad he died ande he went out awesome, but my faness of DN took over xd

Oh, that's a shame then. They're seriously undervalued. Near was a boy genius with a brilliant design and good voice acting and Mello was an interesting, reckless maniac. It's good to have the comparison sometimes- L VS Light got VERY exhausted by the whole Yotsuba arc... I would've hated to see that play out any longer.

I never saw them as imitations... simply as L's prodigies for him to play out the final act of the case. They bring their own charm and intruige to the show that seemed a little exhausted with L by the end of his reign. During that famous rainy rooftop scene with L & Light where everything took a break I remembered why I loved Ryuzaki so much in the first place and what appealed me to the character but also the fact that we had just grown too used to him... L left at a brilliant time and has one of the best anime/manga (mostly the manga) exits ever.
