Naruto in his 4 tailed form wasn't even able to be scratched by the Kusanagi sword, where as Minato with just a kunai was able to basically cut through a tentacle of the 8tails.

The difference in the 8-tails and 9-tails is insane. (at least when they are not in jinchurikki)

Anyway my point is who knows if Amaterasu would even reach the Kyuubi? Like it does with Naruto it could cover itself in a chakra shroud so that Amaterasu hits that and then goes away?

Amaterasu is instant. Unless the kyuubi has speed on par with the raikage then it isn't avoiding it.

So if the Kyuubi did that to itself, the Amaterasu would hit the chakra instead of the Kyuubi. As we have seen from tailed beast cloak Naruto and KM Naruto, that chakra is solid and can lift things and touch people.

So Amaterasu would hit that and burn that and the Kyuubi could just get rid of it.

It is what Gaara did. Have you ever wondered why Amaterasu didn't burn Gaara's sand? Because sand is little particles, and Amaterasu burns until whatever it touches is completely burnt, then it vanishes. So little grains of sand did get completely burnt and Gaara got rid of them.

The same thing could happen with the 9-tails cloak, just keep Amaterasu from spreading.

Ummm the op is talking about a full form kyuubi and it's never had a cloak in that form. It's only had a cloak in its 1-8 tailed forms. And like other people have said the Uchiha can control the kyuubi so it's a moot point anyway.
