This question is basically meant to compare their storylines and decide overall who the better character is, not who your favorite is. My favorite would be Minato, over Kushina, and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. But I do have to admit that Kushina is a far superior character, from a narrative standpoint. Her story is a lot more interesting, with her being selected as a Jinchuruki and having to move into the hidden leaf village. Her personality also seems a lot more fleshed out than Minato's. Minato on the other hand seems kind of basic. Super talented, the nice guy who accepted the strange girl for who she is. I think he's a great character and decent father (despite having sealed a demon in his child lol), but I think Kushina's character was a lot more interesting and had a lot more potential. She could easily be the main character in a spin-off series focused around their era. What are your thoughts and opinions?

My pick is Kushina simply because she seems a more vibrant character and is lively, vivacious and funny. Minato has the personality of a cardboard and overall I feel sleepy whenever he gets screen time. His VA doesn’t help.

Kushina, Minato comes across as a walking plot device. Kushina has potential to be a deep character and I could see a stand alone series with her as the lead being successful

Right? He's a goofy dad sometimes, but overall he has an average personality. Not everyone is supposed to be flamboyant and charismatic, but you'd think someone as important as a Hokage and father of the main protagonist would have a more fleshed out personality. He reminds me of a lesser Hashirama sometimes, as Hashirama is a lot more expressive and funny.

:lol I agree.

OT: Without bashing, Minato has no character appeal he's pure hype who knows others jutsu or knocks them off. He pulls things from his behind when needed, this isn't exclusive to him rather it's an observation. Kushina is the far superior character, even though she didn't have much screen time. She gave off more personality and development potential than most females.

Neither of them.

But I think I would choose Kushina cuz she literally has the same personality as Sakura.

Kushina, minato is so one-dimensional his character was literally made to appeal to anyone under 8.

Kushina. As many others have said she's vibrant brave and good looking not to mention charismatic. Minato had potential but everything was spoiled when he revived. He was hyped as if he was the strongest Hokage but he showed lots of weaknesses or rather he was written in a way that doesn't justify his initial hype, and believe it or not, that directly affected the way the fandom viewed his character overall. Former was, whereas, an "I can look forward to" kinda character with real charisma, and flamboyance.

Think Minato takes it for me by a little bit. Despite his gentle like demeanor, it seems he can be pretty ruthless. The flee on sight order alongside showing no mercy to that one enemy when he saved Kakashi in the Kakashi gaiden actually makes me wonder how dark Minato can possibly be. Dude didn't even allow the guy complete his dying words iirc.

Their storylines interconnect and both rely on Naruto. Neither are fleshed out to the point where this question would matter and it would end up being prefence.

It's like asking whether Fugaku or (whatever Sasuke's mom name is) is a better character. Both weren't that important to the story aside from the father being the .

I disagree with many. Sure there are times while he doesn't show personality, he was very interesting to watch. It was amazing to finally watch the man who saved the village against Kurama and the man everyone considered unsurpassable finally live up to the hype. His very few moments in combat garnered significant praise and support among many fans.

I liked Minato better.

I disagree. I do agree that they're interconnected with Naruto, but they do have their own individual plots asidde from each other and Naruto, as shown in the original post. Kushina was the girl with the demon coming in from another village; she was shy and reserved, but also feisty and confrontational. That's her story-line and personality right there, doesn't have to connect with Naruto. And that's what we're comparing with Minato. Minato was a simple boy who grew up in Konoha. He was talented and social. He took a liking to the girl that everyone else hated or was afraid of. I'm just saying from a Narrative standpoint, Kushina has the more interesting story. Like, if I were to incorporate one of these characters into a story of my own, I'd choose Kushina over Minato. Her story has far more potential. It's completely nothing like comparing Fugaku and Mikoto...I don't Mikoto was even the least developed; she was a generic loving, caring mother.
