In terms of the best mom award, Kushina ties with Gaara's mom Karura and Kaguya Otsutsuki (lol just kidding on the Kaguya part, but not on the Karura part).

I say this because both Kushina and Karura protected their sons from beyond the grave. Kushina helped Naruto when Kurama's hatred was about to overtake Naruto, and Karura's will within Gaara's sand gave Gaara a superb defense.
