As seen in manga, Itachi was able to easily counter Kurenai's genjutsu and just because of that people are underrating it so badly it makes me sick. While it's true that Itachi was her worst matchup (pretty funny that Kishi tends to do such things, I mean: 1010 vs Temari, Lee vs Kimi etc.) and while I'm pretty sure it wasn't her strongest genjutsu, look at how devastating it is.
On the bottom panel you can see Kurenai being ready to strike Itachi with her kunai and stating that "this is the end". Meaning of these words is obvious, she wanted to take his life with that hit.
Ok, now what's so impressive? It all happened in a GENJUTSU WORLD. She has an ability of killing someone without any physical contact with her enemy. I think it's quite a feat. I can't think of any other genjutsu user being able to do such thing.
And to all who may ask how do you know it's even possible. She isn't a genin and I'm 99,99% sure it wasn't the first time she used that technique so it's obvious that she is aware of what she can do with it.
So, eventually, the point of this thread is to show how powerful Kurenai's genjutsu is. It's true she lost to Itachi but come on, she, a fresh jounin, faced the probably the best genjutsu user in the naruto world and for many ppl a ninja that places in top10 shinobi ever. If only Kishi gave her more panel time...
