I always though Kurenai wins,she genjutsu execution speed is fast, Gai isn't breaking it ( it's itachi level) and Gai would be dead before he could break free

I guess you should read more about what Jutsu ranks mean.

It's purpose is to determine how much skill a user needs to perform the technique. The more skill you need to perform a technique, the greater the skill is going to be far more often than not.

Not to mention, Kakashi, Gai and the others had to release the genjutsu. Kurenai showed that all you have to do to defeat hers is inflict a very small amount of pain.

Her genjutsu is awful compared to just about everyone elses we've seen in thus manga.
